I'm a fan of Contador but let's face it, it's hilarious that Riis can lead a team but bruyneel is the worst human in existence and can never be associated with a cycling team anymore.

That's just beyond me.

He's banned for ten years. Can you name anyone who has claimed Bruyneel is the worst human in existence or said anything remotely like that?

Why ban Astana and not the other teams on the list that are still current?

To ban Astana and not say Tinkoff, Rabo, Katusha, et al will be again a load of hypocrisy.
We have no evidence that those teams were working with Ferrari, just individual riders.

Never learned what a hyperbole means, it's good smart guy, you're a genius.

@Netserk, The UCI or whatever doping instance should seriously investigate Riis, especially if you look at the history of some of his members.

Sure Il Dottore is cautious but he has huuuge ego, he is volubile and he likes to provoke.
While, in the eye of the storm, today the Dottore has been advising a fan from Albania (proxie ;-)) on his website : "sure you can sustain 6,6W/kg during 1 hour. No problemo"
IL MITO !!!!

http://www.53x12.com/do/show?page=forum.thread&id=6924

he doesn't say that though. and yeh wiggo almost got that w/kg for one hour in 2012

what can i say, i'm one il mito big fan. there is nothing to incriminate him on all this stuff. almost laughable. this is just training advice mostly, didn't see anything else. and the 90 riders is old stuff from years ago. half of the peloton no big news, other half private clinics and shiity trainers bleargh. when you got il mito around you gotta go with him. i'm waiting only for those "surprise rider" probably cadel bites the dust too and other angels

yeah, i'm not so sure much will come out of this either.

But it's a nice reminder that Di Luca's 90% estimate was likely very close to the truth.

ooops... but hey, it was a year ago, in clean era, just a visit and a cup of coffee, what's wrong with that (and maybe a camper)

I'm still waiting for the Interpol information that links the users to the supply chain. All roads are starting to point to Russia on many, many levels. Thinking back to USPS and Lance's current case: wouldn't it be a political bomb if the drugs used came through a Russian black market source? How unpatriotic for a govmint sponsored team to use Commie drugs...!

I not heard Russia but I have heard other central European countries with strong ties to criminal gangs.

I for one that am happy that this doping is being revealed. There is also joy in the "I told you so" in the face of all the new-generation, not-cool-any-more, doping-stopped-in-200x attitudes.

The article is about cycling, but surely there will be involvement from other sports as well? Have any other sources pointed to a broader scope of Ferrari's involvement in sport?

He was working with Alex Schwarzer and 2 or 3 weeks ago there was some talk about Schwarzer collaborating and dropping some names.

so 90 riders branched out on their own.....of course they did.

My guess is Ferrari was trying to be careful, but got greedy, but a rider would still needed an introduction via someone Ferrari trusted, ie a team owner, team manager, team ds. So if a rider got the intro from one of those then the team is responsible.

Ferrari's complex tax evasion scheme required teams to cooperate and create fake employment contracts for riders prepared by Ferrari.
Around 20 teams suspected between 2008 and 2011: Liquigas, Lampre, Colnago, Geox, Androni, Katusha, Quick Step, Farnese Vini, Aqua&Sapone, Astana & Katusha (off course), Radioshack, Vacansoleii, ISD, CSF, LPR, Diquigiovanni, Tinkoff (LOL), Rabobank, Gerolsteiner, Milram

Here you can find your 90 doped riders ....

Will be interesting for sure to see what names come out if any, but 20 teams could be a bit misleading. Could be a lot of cross over. Examples?

Colnago/CSF same team with Sella and the amazing performances of 08 Giro
ISD-Farnese vini same team
Androni-Diquigiovanni same team
Tinkoff-Katusha-huge cross-over of riders.

I have a feeling that the Italian group at Milram, Petacchi/Onagarato etc might be involved which would also tie in LPR as well but they had DiLuca, Bosisio anyway so quelle surpris. Could tie in Lampre as well.

Someone like Menchov could tie in Rabobank/GEOX and Katusha as well.

Will the Radioshack connection be Lance himself?

Gerolsteiner 08, the team of Rebellin, Schumacher, De Bonis etc.

TBH, if the list includes riders already sanctioned, there may be not so many new names. A quick peek through L'Arriviste's dopeology site would turn up quite a few guilty names from those teams during that period already.

excellent post.

I would be very surprised to learn guys like Mollema and Ten Dam have been hanging out with Ferrari.
It doesn't strike me as likely, and you might be right that the link to Rabo is simply through Menchov.

A lot of those 90 riders are (i think) riders who already retired, suspended or riding at a lower level

Some riders definitely on there

- Scarponi
- Gasparotto
- Visconti
- Bertagnolli
- LL Sanchez
- Pozzato
- Kreuziger
- Vlodomir Bileka
- Vino himself

Some names called/rumoured

- Pietropolli
- Possoni
- Ignatiev
- (Francesco) Masciarelli

Riders i think they could be on it

- Reda
- Ginanni
- Gusev (from a WT team to CT level while still a good rider)
- Carrara
- Kash (?)

And concerning the 'some suprising names', which ones could be logical?
- Majka?
- Aru?
Etc

Brunyeel is the worst. Very little has come out on riis so far besides the fact that he doped himself and doped his riders (which isn't really shocking, nor different from most people in his position) so I don't know how bad he is but Brunyeel was an utter scumbag who didnt care who he hurt, or even may have enjoyed screwing over innocent people to protect his lies.
