No one knows Froome. __HE__ could always ride_______________________

could always climb AND tt.

Few other could always do both. Evans is one. Andy S another. Contador manifeslty so.

33rd in the first chrono in the 2008 Tour.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-de-france-2008/stage-4/results

16th in the final 2008 Tour chrono
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-de-france-2008/stage-20/results

31st in the Queen Stage of the 2008 Tour with Barlo, was he working for Consta Sioutsou? Probably.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-de-france-2008/stage-17/results

Brailsford thought in 2009 he could be a GC rider for the Tour.

Only few can naturally do both from the gun. He is one of the few who can chrono and climb.

_________, and change nationality, under come under Brailsford's evil orbit.

here is what I posted in another thread:

actually Froome is not a surprise. Came second to a very high calibre Chinese chrono rider MA Haijun in the B worlds in about 2005 or 06. Rode two very good chronos in the 2008 Tour, or might have been 2009. Was the final Barlo tour.

Came top 20 in both.

There is an ignorance about Wiggins tt ability. They call him a specialist. But even when he was a trackie, even riding chronos in u23, he never was on a worlds podium, never winning. He has won some 2.1 French chronos, like Dunkirk or something. Wiggins was never a chrono rider. He could not even beat Kloden in the 8km tt in London Tour prologue. Canc put about 20 seconds into him.

Go back and see Froome's first Tour de France. Manifest ability and potential.

Dare say if he rode the u23 World tt, that year, think he was only 22, he would have podiumed, or perhaps won, pending the cours.e

Guy can ride a chrono if u know your race results for the past decade. Aus pundits like Keenan and McKenzie dont know. Keeno easily best Anglophone knowledge, but he would not be au fait with Frroomes first Tour, even tho he probably was working then for the Tour. Think Froome came top 20 in both chronos. I had researched it years back.

Apart from all the Wiggins propaganda. Brailsford has two hopes, perhaps 3 for GC, cos he has seeen and knows by ROTE their ergo results, and blood results for lactic etc.

Dimspace wont know this.

It is not the Kennaugh bro elder. But he is my third option above.

It is Froome and G.

Thomas and Frrome. See about 3 years back, when Froome wanted to change his nationality for UCI purposes to GB.

See Brailsford's comments. He said words to the effect of GC Tour.

And I know a coach of a rider on Sky. He said ALL EYES TO G.

Thomas and Froome are the riders. Kennaugh is the option at the end of this decade.

Tour is won on the nub of the needle. Even seeing what Papp writes, and saying Rumsas was SOOOO talented in grandfondos. Sure. They ALL are that talented. But the doctor and the alchemist make a rider into a Tour winner.

Evans always had the talent, and was one of the few riders in the peloton with that natural ability of pro peloton bell curve end. But. He had to up his program, and roll the dice. Finally.

G Thomas.
Froome.
6 years Kennaugh.

Dont go to Dimspace. He does not have the inside mail from Brailsord. This is their commercial inconfidence planning. I dont know it. I only used a few tenuous bites to piece it together.

Hmm, I must be ignorant for true, I thought he was Kenyan.

Kenya, Zimbabwe, all look pretty much the same from whatever planet that post came from

Will accept the point that Froome's ride has not necessarily 'come from nowhere' as he has shown ability in the past. However he has struggled to consistently put performances together over the last couple of years and would question if his past performances rank anywhere near the rides we have seen over the last couple of days

put your money where your mouth is fatandfast.

2008 had a great ride on the Queen stage @TDF.

great final chrono. Good mates with Robbie Hunter.

Ok, so he is from Kenya. But the post OP was pretty tops, should have not been redacted mods. Get a sense of humour. Seriously.

sorry being able to climb =/= GT level climbing. Get off your high horse and concede his performance was somewhat surprising.

It is one thing that he has been okay in the past with some good performances (I can get a pretty huge list of average climbers who have taken 31st or higher on a MTF i think) another to do this nd then when people are surprised be like "omg ignorant".

I agree it isn't mind-blowing shocking, but still not very expected. I think he'll fade anyway. At best top 10 imo. We'll see.

Does the emergence of Froomey signify the beginning of the British Mafia on CN forums?

Hell no please :). These organized crime syndicates are starting to take over the neighborhood!

Exactly. Mollema and Martin climbing with the best in GT stages is a normal progression. Froome doing so is an unexpectedly big step forward. The difference being that the first two have records which suggest a very high level of climbing ability, as opposed to Froome's record which suggests competence but contains nothing remarkable.

Anyone who is claiming to be totally unsurprised by Froome's level so far is either a liar or his mother.

no, Froome in 2008 Queen Stage at TDF. he was with the front group over all passes.

This is indeed a natural progression had he been gifted the favoured son status of a national, say, a Bauke Mollema.

Does anyone raise an eyebrow at Porte.

Froome is much classier than Porte.

No one cares about Porte's lack of history.

Froome has been put on ice for a while because of woes at Barloworld then injuries. Otherwise, everyone would talk of this putative yet specious natural progression like Dan Martin and Tony Martin and anyone with a surname named Martin.

Froome's problem, and it's been said all year, is that he has always been too aggressive when feeling good.

Take the Crans-Montana stage in the Tour de Suisse this year (the one won by Soler). He attacked the elite group on the climb, inevitably fell away, but still finished just behind the elite riders

He has spent time climbing with the elite, or near-elite groups in a lot of good race this year (Romandie, Suisse, Vuelta). He just hasn't been able to do it day after day after day.

But it is clearly ridiculous to suggest his form the last two stages isn't surprising.

Agree with this and wondering if working for Wiggins, maybe having to hold back slightly on the steepest sections has actually helped him survive.

Look, if Nicolas Roche spent a final climb on the front in a Grand Tour MTF stage and proceeded to ride the likes of Scarponi, JRod, Anton etc off his wheel then people would rightly regard that as surprising. And Roche has a climbing record orders of magnitude better than Froome.

A lot of riders without great pedigree finished ahead of those three.

Cobo, Kessiakoff, Poels, Seeldraeyers, Pardilla, Roche himself, Lagutin, Majka, Dessel, among 31 other not particularly notable names all finished ahead of Scarponi and Anton.

Scarponi and Anton should face more questions about their performances than the above riders.

I knew Froome as a decent all-round rider. Good climbing and good TTs. Exactly the type of rider who you like in a GT squad to help out your leader.

That he was capable of dropping a few very accomplished climbers, like Purito, Fuglsang, VDB2, Nieve, Scarponi (the first two of which especially aren't lacking for form) and out TTing the likes of The Canc, Wigans, Menchov, LL Sanchez, etc. is of a completely different caliber. He's got that rare, once-in-a-blue moon form that turns mere mortals into superheroes. One hopes he can ride this to a nice GC finish, maybe a stage win, and a big, fat multi-year contract that guarantees him financial security for the foreseeable future.

I was thinking Froome could go top 20 on GC overall and perhaps a top 10 in the ITT before the race started, so yes kind of pleasantly surprised so far because of the consistent performance.

Its less surprising than Vanendert, Rolland at the Tour IMO.

same case as voeckler and rolland.form of his life, mentally superior to the others.wiggins will have a big problem now that he can't attack froome,he will beg the others to do so.just like hushovd in paris-roubaix this year.
so far,one of the biggest surprises of the last years.
