^ you're thinking too detailed, really. :D it's simply all about nationalism (shop floor), money (penthouse) and the feedback loop created by the two. always was, always will be.

sky and USPS are excellent examples.

edit: agree with the poster who said that having seen this happen many times over is just frustrating. all the bogus rationalizations, fanboy reporters, hype, bla bla

(To keep things somewhat on topic: I'll see if I can dig up enough publically-available data on Froome to also do a critical power analysis.)

For starters, we have this:

http://www.trainingpeaks.com/av/Z3JDD63H2UVGP77YSXNITPULAE

which indicates that Froome's claimed FTP was 430 W back in the fall of 2011. We also have Hunter's statements that 1) 6.5 W/kg is the new "top rung", 2) that his FTP is presently 440-460 W, and 3) his girlfriend's statement that he is 67 kg (440/67 = 6.6 W/kg; 460/67 = 6.9 W/kg).

Putting the above together, the most likely scenario to me is that his FTP is about the same as in 2011, with any gain in power:mass coming mostly from a reduction in the latter rather than an increase in the former (i.e., Hunter's 440-460 W seems to be a bit of hyperbole, and/or he was speaking in "Vayer-tongue", i.e., mentally adjusting things upwards to 70 kg). That's a far weaker conclusion than what was possible to reconstruct for Wiggins, though, so it would be very helpful to have additional data...anyone know of any?

(BTW, before anyone else says it: yes, I realize that Froome could have been doping back in 2011, and that his actual power in that VAS TT was "only" 405 W.)

Absolutely ridiculous this :D.

Anybody ever climbed Mount Chilliad in GTA San Andreas on a bike? If you haven't, the protagonist, CJ, comes to an almost complete stop on the steeper sections. Then, his cadence increases out of nowhere to about 6000 RPM and he starts flying again. CJ can also push derailed freight trains uphill using nothing but his bare arms.

Froome is a real life version of CJ.
