I like the fact that Digger's name got out, because it proved it matters exactly zilch and thus, by itself, it refutes every single fanboy defense that hinges on "uh you're hiding behind a screenname!". Even with his real name out there, he's Digger. That's the part that matters when he speaks, and personally I think it's important to emphasize that.

No need to mention his real name to do that, although **** me if I remember it even after having seen Cound and Fran Millar using it more than a couple of times (which again goes to show how irrelevant it is and how weak the "hiding behind a screenname" argument is).

I agree. Digger's points hit home otherwise they wouldn't use the "hiding behind a screenname" arguement.

Digger is a friggin hypocrite, he should name his sources more often.

;)

Back on topic.

I think it is great Froome thinks we should talk more open about doping, especially what happened ten years ago, it doesnt happen anymore these days, also not less. Move along.

Wonder what he and Kittel thought of JTL though.

Froome has never lived in Britain. No-one beyond a few dedicated fans would have heard of him pre-2011. He races with a Zimbabwe flag on his bike. Frankly I'm surprised the Daily Mail hasn't launched on one of it's 'Plastic Brit' diatribes. No surprises not many voted for him.

And Murray isn't the most popular sportsman in England. I imagine the entirety of Scotland voted for him though.

I suspect that Murray's unpopularity in England is overstated, I doubt he could have acheived his vote size purely on Scottish Votes.

Froome needs to work on his omerta. He cant use the same excuse for every situation.

Froome is naïve to the greatest extent possible if he thinks there is no more doping in cycling. The Rogers, Breyne cases are just two recent examples. What Froome does not understand is that you cannot just wash away decades of doping and assert the sport is clean today. A person like Froome who wants to ignore the past is bound to repeat it.

Exchange during 2012 TdF:

Chris Froome: "Fans have got to get it into their heads that performances like this can be done clean".
One of the editors of Podium Café in direct response: "Chris, clean cyclists have got to get it into their heads that 25 years of cheating colleagues has robbed them of blind faith fans".

Someone should also mention to Froome that his solo-thread on the Clinic has surpassed 8,000 replies with a million+ views. So all we have gotten in our heads is that he and a great deal of his colleagues are utterly ridiculous.

Velo-Club dot net is a hotbed for francophones.

I prefer the frenchies plegmatic opinion on doping. They accept it, without accepting it. And dont go all absolutist, binary right wrong.

They take the comments from Froome, not as the lies that the anglophones do, but as a little game, and put no stock in lies. They see it as part of the game. He gives Madam Amaury some play. Madam Amaury still owns ASO doesnt she

Froome interview in The Telegraph tomorrow.

Froome has already learned to his chagrin in the 2013 Tour, following the exposing of Armstrong’s fraud, that seeing is not necessarily believing any more. He flew fantatstically up Mont Ventoux only to be met with as much cynicism as awe. It hurt him. “That was a really special day for me, so to basically have the media try to take that glory away with the same questions I had already kept answering for two weeks – ‘how can you prove you’re clean?’ – felt really insulting. I felt it disintegrated all my hard work.”

Froome’s heartfelt hopes for 2014 is that cycling’s doping tales take a back seat to pure sport but that could be wishful thinking. Our conversation occurred before news that Froome’s Sky team-mate Jonathan Tiernan-Locke faced disciplinary proceedings over an alleged anti-doping rule violation and that former colleague Mick Rogers had tested positive for clenbuterol.

“I genuinely believe people want to stop talking about doping now. They want to have someone to believe in,” says Froome. Like him perhaps? “Well, I definitely feel a responsibility to show people the sport has changed. I understand why there are still a lot of critics, cynicism and doubters out there. Of course, no-one can actually know 100 per cent if I’m clean or not, except me. And I know I am, that my results will stand the test of time.

“We can’t force people to believe, it’s going to take time. I know I have a big responsibility but it’s not hard to be clean and to be a champion. Doping has never ever crossed my mind. It’s not an option. I’d rather go and scrub factory floors for a living than cheat to get where I am.”

So "nobody" wants to talk about doping. But he was hurt that "the media" (always a convenient scapegoat) thinks he's doping, so much so that it sullied his victory on Ventoux. So is it that nobody wants to talk about it or is it that people talk about it so much that it ruins his victory?

I find the twists and turns difficult to follow.

LOL. Let me get this straight. A man who had no problems hacking into someone else's email account so he could commit identity theft would never ever think of doping. Sounds legit.

Now do really think Cound & Dawg would rather wash floors in a factory than live in Monaco and dope?

Who comes up with this stuff?

That's almost identical to Wiggins saying he would rather work in Tesco than be a cheat.
Froome seems to be saying a lot of the exact same things Wiggins said last year (eg the 10 year comment as well).

What's really funny though is the fact that so many of the athletes who would rather scrub floors than dope end up being the best in the world anyway, so they don't need to dope.
The ones who would rather dope are talentless anyway and cant beat the clean ones even with dope.

Also all the athletes who are afraid of needles to the extent that they would never take drugs (even the orally adminstered ones) end up naturally looking like Schwarzeneger anyway.

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty to Team Sky.
No one else does warm downs, thats why Froome can fly.
doo doo doo

Even Armstrong doesn't believe Froome
