When you're the 'Team Leader', the other riders look to you for direction; even with team radios, the first place the other riders look is to the xx1 plate, even before the voice in their ear.

Froome is a shadow of a real leader, if he was a real leader, he wouldn't need to have a pop at Wiggins, because he'd know that he was in charge on the road, & that was all that mattered. He'd be telling guys to chase breaks, & go get water etc, but all I see right now is guys on the road getting direction from the team car, because they don't have a leader on the road.

He had a pop at Wiggins to sell some books! It made no difference to his performance yesterday for crying out loud.

Has -as in current. But ad hoc and spontaneous as and when required, is a different kettle of fish, perhaps?

No, he has not said he has never had a TUE. He does decline to address what he has had. He said he had no TUE's at the Tour and IIRC Sky said they had 2 TUE's for the team last season, one in competition the other out of.

AC played a very good game. And in hindsight, timed it just right.

On the other hand, I would say that Froome's arrogance also came back to bite him. In trying to show the world what an extraordinary rider he is, and how dominant his team is, he left an opening.

I'll bet it was a very quiet evening at the Sky dinner table.

Are you referring to stage 2? I don't get the criticism of Froome's tactics on that stage. He was aggressive and tried to distance his rivals. What's wrong with that?

and his point it seems was that TUE's should be a 'private' thing..as in a "medical records kind of privacy thing"

The TT will come down to who is the strongest in the third week (strong likelihood that it will be Contador in my opinion). Whoever wins on Hautacam will also win the long hilly TT (or at least beat the GC rivals/Tony might win it).

Well I'm not a doctor, so I can't say with absolute authority where Chris Froome's brain is located, but I'll take a chance in saying that it probably won't be found within the "red zones" as depicted here.

I literally couldn't disagree any more with that entire post. I don't know where to start actually. Staggering.

Clinic issues aside, do we have to invent talking points that don't exist, tactics in this race for instance, because cycling is inherently a pretty boring sport?

Just putting it out there.

It's absurd. They used the same "tactics" they've been using since the Wiggins' Tour. Put a bunch of guys on the front and kill everyone. One can barely call it a tactic, it's just "we have a bunch of guys way stronger than everyone so we go to the front and wreck the peloton". Same nonsense as Armstrong's teams.

How they all got so strong is a...well it's not really a...mystery.

You know when that "tactic" works? When your top guy is stronger than all the other top guys. Today theirs was not. To say it was tactically bad is to say that it's tactically bad every time they do it. Finally the formerly best GT rider in the world got 20 seconds on Froome. Hardly a destruction.

Their riding has been preposterous for years.

Time's up for Zorzoli, we need change. Cookson simply can not afford this. Even more so because of the family Sky connection.
