and yes, I thnk pretty much everyone that isn't british just laughs at Dawg. Ventoux stage, I don't think any of the many eurosport commentators were taking that seriously.

A French journalist said there was laughter in the press room when he took off.
Our Eurosport commentators were dumbfounded.

Which ones? As the ones I have heard on Eurosport know nothing about cycling let alone professional cycling!

But aside from that The Hitch raises some good points. My view is that in today's world with twitter and other social media outlets only a fool would do something that may end up embarrassing them. But I have been proved wrong and some professional cyclists are still cheating!

The assumptions I question are that Armstrong's and Pantani's and others times on climbs are unable to be matched by non-doped riders.
This theory assumes that the best athletes have always been cycling and that the improvements that Armstrong, Pantani et al got exceeded what an elite rider could achieve.

what i would like to see is ASO test all riders over the three weeks and publish the results anonymously. We need real data to pass judgement.

I continue to be surprised about what people can achieve but I expect that if CADF find a violation against Froome that they expose it.

With Wiggins well he 's Belgium so no surprise!

I was in Barcelona in 92 and if Armstrong was on the juice back then it certainly didn't help.

Bill Cosby is evidence that it will come out!

My eyes might be deceiving me, but isn't that a pair of flip flop/sand shoes on the floor to the right of Froome, just below the other guy's feet?

No idea who they belong to, but could it be that Froome turned up in a pair of sand shoes and then changed?

i wish Froome would enlighten us all on how to "easily" lose 13lbs in 3 weeks. i could certainly use it myself.

This is a second hand quote so don't take it too literally, this docu comes out in February so we can see if he makes any comments to that effect publicly then

reread the quote from the book. It makes clear they are saying he rode in the sand shoes, otherwise Brailsford is being a fashionista by commenting on a riders non racing attire....

More lies from Brailsford.....no surprise.

Not sure what's so impressive about finishing over 5 minutes down on Nathan O'Neill?

I've read it. I respectfully disagree with you that it makes clear they are saying he rode in sand shoes.

Whatever happened to Paul Manning and Stuart Dangerfield? Why weren't tbey impressive finishing ahead of Dawg?

They picked out some bloke who didn't even ride for the UK and thought that's the next GT champion?

"You're not going to believe this, some bloke's turned up in sand shoes, jumped on his bike and look what he's done. In a pair of ****ing sand shoes!"

I respectfully disagree that this quote does not make it clear they say he rode in sand shoes.

They did not ride in sand shoes :) bike shoes compared to sand shoes --> 10% watts increase. Significant gains

Well maybe because Manning and Dangerfield were already in their 30s and had been around the British Cycling scene since early the early 90s. Dangerfield was a noted TT rider and Manning was seen as a big talent around 94-95 but never made it.

There would be a lot of other guys on that Commonwealth list that would be more appropiate to compare to than those two.

You're right. They were looking at the track team for the next GT winner

It certainly doesn't look like he's wearing sand shoes on that bike.

Steve Cummings being one decent benchmark.
Good solid WT level rider, who wins a few races, but is mainly a domestique.

Oh really?

How about this retelling of the same story from brailsford in July 2013. Does it also not make clear that froome is allegedly riding in sand shoes?

'I was with Shane Sutton [the British head coach] on the beach road in Melbourne during the time trial. Chris rode past, and Shane said: "Bloody hell, there's a bloke in a pair of sand shoes, and he's going fast."'
