Why have people given the Vuelta to Froome? There seems to be no talk of bring Tour legs into the Vuelta, is it that the Tour is easy? I can't figure it out, its also one month between the TDF and Vuelta, same as the Giro, yet it seems normal that someone would come into the Tour 4 weeks after doing 3 weeks of everyday high speed 150mile rides and be beating everyone?? Why were there no question last year with Froome riding as if he went to the beach at the Tour. Quintana was also a question mark, there was zero evidence that these guys just did 3 weeks of hard riding.

I really don't know what juice Quintana got but Froome could only have been through the motorized bike. Hey, today I am panting going up a 27% gradient hill, some fellow whizzes past me in a motorized skateboard, wow, the eaze of it, I said I gots to get me a motorized bicycle, this thing makes it easy!

I think the motor thing is getting out of hand, just like the epo thing. It will take police intervention again to expose it. But at what damage to the sport?

It has never recovered its damage as a doping sport, but the motors will ensure it never gets any credibility, even if it was cleaned up. The sport has no one to blame but itself.

How could the police intervene if a pro-cyclist uses a motor - It's not a criminal offence, unlike using PED's.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_bicycle_laws#Europe

They can make it a criminal offence.

http://road.cc/content/news/195218-mechanical-doping-france-introduce-sporting-fraud-law-criminalise-motor-cheats

This is from a year ago although I'm not aware if the relevant legislation was passed in france or anywhere else.

The thing about motors is... unlike PEDs you can't get caught after the race is complete and you pass the 'bike-check'.

At best we might have stories, rumours assumptions... but real proof when riding with a motor can only happen when caught red handed.

Why doesn't the UCI provide the bikes themselves? Would avoid the the difference in bikes, the possible fiddling...
Everybody on a neutral bike with neutral wheels.
Assuming you're not advocating for a nuetral brand? I doubt pro cycling would exist if bike manufacturers couldn't showcase their bikes at races

Doesn't't hurt to have a shed load of high priced help dragging you all over France either.... how much real effort did he really have to put out... life's easy when you have at least four guys with you on every climb..... he certainly didn't have to do a Quintana type ride like at the Giro... And I expect Froome's Vuelta will be no different, another dull and demoralising procession...

Froome in the Vuelta usually has less of a train, well has in the past.

That explains it. Remember when Wiggins won TDF and Froome went for the Vuelta after, he ran out of gas mid way and the TDF fatigue hit him. I wondered what was different with that and the Vuelta of last year where there was no burn out. He was using the motor for both TDFs so what was different? Well he was pulling Wiggins to the TDF win one year and last year he had his high priced equally motor driven domestiques pulling him to victory so plenty of gas left Vuelta.

I really can't watch this year's Vuelta. I didn't even watch TDF stage 20. How is Kwiatkowski after pulling mightly in the mtns almost able to win the TT?? If TD was in the Vuelta, I would may be watch but now I can't think of anyone to challenge Froome and Sky. Wait...perhaps Astana, Vino seems to have a deal that he must win one GT every year so it will no holds bar for Vuelta.

This.
Pro-cycling scraping the barrel.

Interesting point also about Vino.
Rumor has it that winners are negotiated and certain wins are pre-determined in riders contracts.
Wiggins, for instance, was the preplanned winner of the 2012 TdF. Froome was able to negotiate a 1 million pound premium (the same amount as Wiggins' win premium), in return for letting Wiggins win.
Sure, it's only rumor. But I do think that's how it goes these days.
You go to ASO and/or UCI. Tell them what you have to offer them and what you want in return.
We know for a fact that that's what Sky did in 2012.
Sky, at one of their bi-annual meetings, briefed the Tour de France organisers ASO about his precise training regime in Tenerife with his personal coach, Tim Kerrison, making a PowerPoint presentation. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/tour-de-france/9385050/Tour-de-France-2012-furious-Bradley-Wiggins-hits-out-over-drugs-slurs-as-Thibaut-Pinot-wins-stage-eight.html

This guy now only has Merckx, Hinault, Anquetil and EPOrain ahead of him in the TdF Hall of Fame. Cycling is a hilarious sport.

This paragraph from your link is even more hilarious than the DQ itself imo:
Sky’s sports director, Sean Yates, confirmed that Froome had been suffering from knee problems. He said that he had done a large amount of work in yesterday’s stage to Brescia for Greg Henderson.

Greg Henderson's domestique.

I,m posting again - Froome Time Trial at

5 mins 21 secs
18.3 kms to go

He,s a on a straight flat stretch of road and suddenly his legs look like they are in fast forward, spin really fast then suddenly slow down. It looked very odd. He was nowhere near the corner.

journalists are not questioning Froome anymore, more going after Team Sky rather Froome's unbelievable performances.

Fotheringham in today's Observer

Matt Lawton in dailyMail

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/othersports/article-4719148/Sir-Dave-Brailsford-tarnishing-Chris-Froome-performance.html

This is worse than Armstrong. Froome's transformation is unprecedented!!!
It's scary.

Brailsfraud personally asked Matt Lawton to cover up the jiffy bag story, implicitly offering him a bribe to do so.
Yet Matt sees no reason to question Froome, calls him "brilliant",the "finest rider of the peloton".

Jake Humphrey has nearly 1 million followers and spouts crap like this:

Fair play to Froome-Cound though.
They're playing it smartly, not pissing too many people off (except those bitter French cycling fans).

Froome, with carefully self managed PR, has managed to separate himself from the shenanigans that went on with sky all winter. The knives are out for Brailsford but Froome has escaped nicely. Matt Laton blatantly ignores the inescapable fact that Froome signed a new contract with sky, despite all his apparent misgivings with sky and Brailsford. That tells you all you need to know. Indeed it was Froome who cancelled the 2 rest day press conferences but Brailsford has copped much of the flak for this. Walshs piece today in The Times is just another eulogy, he simply can't see the woods from the trees.

Froome and Cound have learned the lessons of the past, to create a nice clean public image and not to rattle any cages or piss people off. Tell the people what you think they want to hear. Now let's get the baby dressed in yellow for the podium celebration to create a few nice pictures for the 4 time champion to display in tomorrow's papers.

Not carefully managed. These guys are plonkers. The smell blood on Brailsford or are told to hang Brailford out, but ignore the obvious.

The Moore's, Fotheringhams, Lawtons, Williams have always fallen over themselves to ignore the doping and write positive stories.

Froome is getting greedy though. 4 TDFs now.
When you are wiggins or cadel or Sastre you can sneak 1 tdf and hide behind history.

with 4 Froome can't do that anymore. And considering how tarnished cycling's reputation is, with every win, he's making himself look even more dodgy.
