See, this is where I can't take you serious whatsoever.

There are many reasons not to take Hoggie serious, but if you think he doesn't ridicule Contador you are off your rocker. Hoggie hammers at the biggest symbol standing and in that he certainly has a good point. And he also has a good point in treating pro-cycling as one big joke.

I wish I could disagree with him there and it's certainly not my style, but the overarching point... it is hard to refute ;)

Oh and what he says about this book? I seldom has been more in agreement with him. The book is a joke and the figure emerging out of it really dismissed any notion about barriers he's not ready to take.

Believe what you will about me. That is your prerogative.

But the book is joke. Froome & Walsh are a comedy act all to themselves.

The book has just reinforced my belief that Froome is a doper.

You brought Contador up as a nice guy in relation to Froome to being this, that and the other.

One rule for one and another for someone else.

Why don't you address the point in the way you judge one differently to another?

Just like Jan was a nicer guy than Lance, Alberto certainly seems to be a MUCh nicer guy than Froome. In fact that you try to argue this after this book is amazing.

That's nothing to do with doping, Froome simply comes of as an utter narcisist with a mean streak.

What I said was; it's clear Contador is a nice guy and chats to his competitors including Froome.

I felt it was disingenuous of Froome to take these short conversations and turn them into Contador "the amigo". Contador "the slow spainard drinking coffee with his friends instead of training".

I mean seriously Gooner - "How's the coffee, Alberto?" - What the f--- does that comment mean? Froome & Walsh are trying to protray Contador as old school rider who has to resort to doping to succeed.

That's exactly what Lance tried on Alberto when he made references about Contador living in his home town with his friends. Total BS.

Froome does the same with Nibali but more so Contador.

This is after Contador backed Froome at the Tour as "clean".

Team Fround - take no prisoners.

If Froome said things to the same level as Contador said previously, you would be on top of him like a ton of bricks and you wouldn't be calling him a nice guy sticking up for him like you do now with Contador. You're a hypocrite.

I think you've lost it if you think Froome is treating Contador similar to what Lance did.

Ofc Contador is going to say Froome is clean and say nothing of note, what else is he going to say with his own past hanging over him? You say that as if Contador was clean all along and his opinion was worth listening to on this.

I find it staggering that some people on here have a support base for Contador and have no problem with him winning races doped to the gills while at the same time coming in here decrying Froome doping as if they have some great interest in the greater good of the sport.

That to me isn't people that are against the culture doping but people that are mainly against one team and a few riders that are on it.

There is a difference in saying the sport is a joke and enjoying what that joke entails.

Not sure what this has to do with Contador being a nice guy and Froome not?

Stop turning this into a childish argument of he said, she said.

I think you'll find Contador is called out for doping just as much as Froome.

And what had Contador said? Even with Lance he handled all of that with calming aplomb. Must be all the coffee he drinks?

So Riis was clean from '93-'96?

The quote he responded to was "If there is no evidence someone is doping, they are clean. Worst case scenario, we are not sure. But you can never say someone is doping until you have evidence (positive test)."

People can go back to the what consitutes evidence thread ... but I think there's enough evidence that indicates his doping ... including the fact he said he was doping.

Indeed - why don't you answer the question I've asked about five times at this stage...do you think froome is clean?

That works until you realize that also would implicate Lemond, who not only rode for dirty teams, but was also close to a quack who dabbled with steroids. And considering I'm pretty sure Greg is clean that means being close to a doping doctor is not 100% surefire proof. Neither is riding for a dirty team.

True, but Lemond kicked *** from the moment he got on a bike. He was born to do it. Compare that to Froome who sucked like a vacuum cleaner until the moment Sky hired Leinders and you don't exactly need to be a world champion jigsaw puzzle solver to piece it all together.

There's a lot of evidence against Sky. At this point there's only the two biggies - witness testimonies and positive tests - left in terms of incriminating evidence. It took years before those came out against Lance, and more years yet to actually bring him down. I just hope the fall is as epic for Sky as it was for USPS. Despicable team.

Let it be said that I don't believe any of the other top GC riders to be completely clean, but at least they don't peddle the tedious "holier than thou zero tolerance full transparency" bullpoop that no-one who cares even a little bit would buy even if it was given away for free. I want to see it unravel, just to uncover what it is they're doing, because it has got to be some next-level stuff with the way Froome is going. I think Contador has gone into this season all guns a-blazing (doping-wise). If he can't get within a sniff of Froome come July the farce will just be complete.

In '96 he didn't say he was doping. That was 2007.

AFAIK there wasn't more evidence against Riis in '96 than there is against Froome now.

Well, at least the UCI knew already in 1994 Riis was doping due to the ludicrous blood values. I think Riis and the rest of Gewiss were partly responsible for the 50% haematocrit limit being introduced since they couldn't catch anyone transfusing/injecting (or didn't care.) I don't know exactly how fast it (the blood data got leaked from the UCI) spread amongst journalists & fans but it was pretty definitive by 1999 that Riis had doped, if not in 2000.

For sure you can say that the UCI is covering up incriminating evidence against Froome right now but there were a lot more rumours surrounding Riis at the time than Froome (are there any rumours about Froome ?) so I'd say there was more evidence against Riis.

Maybe we will have a great show in TDF. Froome and Horner, skinnies but full power. Last year I am sure they doped. This year we will see if Nibali / Contador is as skinny as Froome/Horner were last year. If so, we will have equal fights, more or less.
It is actually so sad for cycling. We will never know for sure who was the strongest. My bet is Sagan and Contador, but we will never know..

weak field

Paris Nice 2009 prologue 9.3km at Amilly.

I remember the stupifaction at the time that Contador, a GC specialist, could win a short, flat TT.

Froome's performance today is even more unbelievable given that he doesn't even look like he knows how to ride a bike (personal opinion).

I wish there was a way for me to "like" this post.

Best of the thread so far.
