I think you don't need to live in Monaco to easlily unplug the powermeter

You dont - its an irrelevance. People live in Monaco primarily for one reason - they don't want to pay 40/50/60% tax on the millions they earn. It also happens to be warm and a nice place.

Wouldnt it be grand if we had someone like Jonathan Vaughters on this board telling us Froome has a crazy adoptivity to Low Carbohydrate Diet Endurance Training?

And all of that came inbetween the Tour of Poland 2011 - Vuelta 2011.

The Countess of Whales should be hired by the WHO.

Look at the Monaco crew, dodging taxes and dope tests at the same time. How cute!

like Sagan and Quintana, in Monaco too ;)
As you may have noticed my comment was aimed at all riders living in Monaco, not just Froome or Sky ;)

Q: So you seem to have issues with me calling Contadoper names(while we all know his past), Yet you seem to have no issues with piling on or joining in on Froomey with jokes and what not, despite the fact that Froome has never tested positive for doping, got it.

Lol! If that's not hypocrisy, I don't know what is. It's obvious you're an A.C. fan and don't like it when folks trash him, but you're doing the same thing with others. Now I know the true reason behind you being "offended" by people calling Contadoper names.

I heard from an outside source that Froome looks like an anorexic. People who don't eat often excel in endurance sports...

Maybe I am not intelligent enough but I cannot see the question in your post?

An anorexic would not be able to compete in an endurance sport never mind win anything.

I'm not sure what that means "also addicted to anti-depressive drugs"....

Anyone that takes antidepressant drugs has to ween off of them slowly or suffer from the effects of withdrawal symptoms, therefore the body becomes dependent on said medication. Being dependent is different than being addicted.

What this quoted comment is insinuating is that he's a drug addict because he may taking anti-depressant drugs, which is a low blow in my opinion.

Horrible stuff if true but nothing would surprise me with Froome.

so it would not come as surprise if he was honest......only cycling on bread

'n water..................?

Eating disorders are common in cycling. It's not unusual. Cyclists who ride 10,000km a year still eat and have eating disorders. Most use low carb diets which is taken to the extreme cause anorexia. They'll eat a 3 steaks a day and still lose weight.

I guess you're making fun of the clean "bread and water" thing which is distasteful but not surprising.

Probably semantics. I read it as using the word 'dependent' as you have defined. It is still unsubstantiated.

Of course it would be stupid to suggest anyone who takes antidepressants is a junkie, but I don't think that's what DT's saying at all.

Yes, antidepressants create dependency and you shouldn't quit them cold-turkey even if you could. But someone who no longer gets prescriptions for antidepressants, or whose psychiatrist/doctor has recommended they stop taking them, or who has already tried several times to quit unsuccessfully, so that they turn out to be unable to quit, could be said to be addicted to them if he continues taking them beyond their medical use. It's certainly not an insult against anyone who takes antidepressants, regardless of whether or not their own expected dependency became full-blown addiction. Addicted is 1) not a moral judgment, and 2) even then, not applicable to everyone who takes antidepressants.

Not sure if that's what was being insinuated, but there is a long, sordid history of anti-depressants in cycling. It may be indicative of other behavior, it may not.

One article: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/100-tours-100-tales/2014/jan/23/cycling-relationship-depression-doping

The drugs lead you to other addictions. The anti-depressants almost automatically accompany other doping treatments. I took up to eight pills of prozac a day when I was racing... Prozac cuts the appetite, keeps you in another world, a world where you're not afraid of what you're doing. You're no longer afraid to inject yourself with all the crap. It takes you to a world where you don't ask any more questions, especially you don't ask your doctor questions either or your sporting director. Then there are periods where you must stop doping you feel like superman. Then one day all of the sudden it stops and you become dramatically depressed. Look at Pantani, Vandenbroucke and all the others we don't even talk about. They are numerous other cyclists and former cyclists that are addicted to cocaine, heroin and other medications. It's not just in the world of cycling.

That was an enlightening article (to me), thanks for posting it. I didn't know the connection with anti-depressants and PED use. Now that I've read that piece, it makes perfect sense.

I guess we really do learn something new everyday. :p

I wish I could say I was happy to share it. Sordid stuff.

He doesn't seem to me like a strong character (otherwise I doubt he would be such dedicated to antidoping thread and give any room to Cound/Walsh etc.) so there's some propability of him having problems dealing with Sky's awful expectations and public's constant and legit backlash. If he's addicted/dependent/whatever to some anti-deps then... I can dig that.
