I agree that in 2012 they were in range for their time. Is there an explanation for the 2011 solid mid-field to 2012 contender? That's where I get suspicious. Please don't reply with incremental gains.

Not competing in several events ?

GB track team focus is Olympic medals (and worlds to an extent) . As long as they get enough points to qualify, they don't care about the other events.

Not sure why you're bothering to reply to someone who seriously tried to suggest that Russia or New Zealand have been better than GB at team pursuit in living memory.

So any decent GB performance is now cheating

Yes. it is... Brites have always cheated in ever single aspect of life, didnt you know ?? (haha)

It makes sense to be suspisious about, this sudden rise in British cycling and now new WR on tracks don't you think ? I would be suprised if none had made a thread tbh.

The germans just won the team sprint. They must be jacked up to the tits then?

FFS you need to get a life.

I saw some unhealthy steroid thies in the german men's team.

the german ladies got lucky with disqualifications of competitors.
didn't look as 'roided as the men.
the ladies may well be on the juice of course, but nothing alarming there.

This is trolling, right?

About as credible as cyclingranking.com

In the absence of new Armstrong stuff, trolling seems to have become an Olympic sport around here.;)

On a track cycling side note, I'm surprised at how poor the Aussies looked today. Less than ordinary.
Even Anna Meares seemed a bit below par.
As a whole, they aren't having the greatest of Olympics.

Definitely cheating, I mean it's not like they already held the world record, were the reigning world champions in the Team Pursuit and 2 of the team are reigning olympic champions or anything like that....

Oh wait hang on a sec.

You now, you could be right.

I heard about this one guy. Some people are saying that he cheated in some big race. But, what a joke. He already won it six other times.

Dave.

The difference is that these guys have always been this good, that "guy" was nowhere in Grand Tours until he came back with his new friends.

The Great British pursuit team are the best in the world at what they do and have always been, it's a specialist event for the country in the same way the Belgians are the best in the world at Cobbles, the Spanish/Italian's are the best climbers in the world etc

They aren't cheats, they are just good at what they do, always have been and only Australia can really get close to them, another country that focuses on this style of cycling.

But ofcourse the Brit's are currently public enemy #1 so must be cheating at everything

And if you could have heard the voices in the interview. Like Graeme Dott (very high). The most unsuspicious voices i ever heard of sports women = pretty normal for average women.

Hope they don´t get busted tomorrow, otherwise this post would look very stupid. :D

Given the number of swimming events so far, they are seriously below where 'the public' expects them to be.

GB Aussie "Medal table ashes" is not going to be good reading for them

Don't get me started on the swimming.
Michael Phelps only just made the start of his last semi final, because he was busy picking up his gold gong from a race he'd swum 15 minutes earlier.

Every evening is the same. Two or three races, two or three medal chances.

Either swimming is too easy or there are just way too many events.

There are several scientific research papers which indicate that the performances are within range of non-doping efforts.

It is all very well to be within the range - to have so many of one generation of athletes setting world records at one time suggests that GB have a huge advantage somewhere. I wouldn't want to declare straight off the bat that it's dope - the sports-science approach does seem to be perhaps more advantageous in a controlled, predictable environment like the track.
