So if Geert couldn't keep you inside the parameters of anti-doping detection and you did get pinged, he had a way of getting TUEs - where possible - regardless of when you needed them.

Had not even considered this skill and its usefulness for a pro cycling team.

But it makes a heck of a lot of sense.

A wizard at helping you not test positive; medically and procedurally.

For sure, a cycling doc with a good relationship with Zorzoli would be a huge asset and the know how to work the 'system'.

You just repeat yourself. You say this makes sure individuals take the fall, not execs. So how does that work with BC?

Rider A signs the doc. Rider A dopes, and is caught.

How, exactly, do they stop Rider A squealling if he wants to?

Without an answer to that, the whole 'comparison' is deader than a squirrel under a truck tyre.

blood on the truck tire?

I bet this is true for all influential teams. :(

But it certainly shows once again how important Leinders was at the Rabobank.

Squeal to whom? Their NADO? Let me show you how that ends.

Let's go back in time to USA Cycling protecting PED use for USPS. Not one person was sanctioned at the federation. None. Explain to me how they can be sanctioned within the current WADA framework.

How about the guys like Celeya and Motoman? What's happened to them exactly? WADA sanctioned athletes cannot associate with them, but so what? That didn't stop a banned sports agent from attending the London Games and watching from the Nike box.

It's the athlete that gets sanctioned while the business end of the sport permits doping.

There are no team sanctions because teams fear the outcome of team sanctions. Teams fear the outcome of team sanctions because pro cycling is completely dope-saturated.

I bet Dr Zorzoli is well tickled on the palm for emergency TUEs.......

That's so unfair considering he had turned the page and was now committed to helping the sport clean up.

I fear an epidemic of saddles sores to break out. He is the only man who can stop them.

dave brailsford? or JTL.

good initials, good acronym, JTL. if nothing else, Sky should rehire him based on his skill of acronyms. Certainly that is good for some marginal gains innit?

Does anyone have a pic or link when Leinders worked at Sky, was he listed there officially as team doc? Tried some old links, but 'page not found'

Think of how many soigneurs will die because of this decision*.

*If you think this comment is disgusting, I agree - take it up with Brailsford.

Doesn't surprise me. Sky like re-writing history.

Brailsford told Sky that Lenders was employed because he knew what the other teams were up to. They didn't think this was strange.

In the press release he is framed as "ex-rabo" rather than ex-sky.

Funny.

Absolutely gutted that this will go unnoticed in the British press. Everything Sky achieved whilst he was there and shortly after will be forever tarnished. On a positive note glad this has happened just wish Sir Dave would follow for massive incompetence if nothing else.

Lifetime ban, that's an exclusive club.

I wonder how the bots will react to sky having basically dr. Ferrari on the team.. Right at the moment when Dawg transformed. What a coincidence.

The Bots will be waiting for Bot leader Walsh to make a comment before clogging up some threads with “there’s no evidence”.

In the USADA reasoned decision they do mention his time at SKY., but state that the charges only are related to his time at Rabobank.

http://www.usada.org/wp-content/uploads/AAA_decision_Leinders_December_2014.pdf

It really doesn't look good for DB. Sky needs to address this hiring of someone now as infamous as Ferrari (or heck Lance himself).

It also flags up Zorzoli as someone who would "would keep in touch with team doctors so that "riders and staff" would have the idea that the UCI was basically on top of them and that they had to be careful with what they would do in terms of doping"
(Page 16 from the testimony of Steven Tietler, manager of legal affairs for NAD)

There is another similar comment later.
