Until the TOC hits the eastern Sierras, there won't be any epic stages. Onion Valley Road:

Double the difficulty rating of Mt. Diablo, and 1700m higher in altitude. The bottom of this climb is higher than the summit of Mt. Diablo. Picture Mont Ventoux, only add 2000' in elevation and you've got the idea.

"Sigo Peleando"

David Blanco still hopes for a chance to get his 5th win at Volta a Portugal. Says he can't retire without at least trying. He was close to Carmim-Prio-Tavira, but the signing failed and he is now considering his chances elsewhere. Link

I think it's going to be really hard. Maybe if rides for free or some sponsor jumps in just to take his paycheck. He deserves it though. After all this years he is very close to Portugal and its cycling fans.

I thought Johan said Andy wasnt doing the Ardennes? So he is going to ride Brabantse Pijl but not AGR, FW or LBL?

I don't know, but Flanders Classics(organisation behind the Ronde, G-W, Brabantse Pijl, Dwars door Vlaanderen, Scheldeprijs and the Omloop het Nieuwsblad) announced Andy would be at the starting line of Brabantse Pijl.

“I still rode a lot but if I wake up and it’s pouring rain and four degrees in Seattle why don’t I just drive up to the mountains, spend a big day skiing in the snow and not suffer through a five hour ride in the rain?”

Because you're paid to win bike races?

OK, Tyler doesn't want it enough as a new explanation of why he's so weak in sprints so far this year.

I'm amused at how important some riders find Gent-Wevelgem. It won't be as easy as last year, so they might be in for a surprise. Looking forward to see how far Cav-Cav will get though.

NetApp will do a lot better at the Giro, than Utensilnord in Colombia. Still hoping for Acqua e Sapone.
I think they need to get 5 foreign teams to keep their UCI ranking status (lowly though it is). It's always a problem for them.

Yep, they always invite teams but very few teams accept! That's what happens when a race is just too hard :D

Bradley Wiggins has signed up for a column in The Guardian newspaper. Here is his first one in the paper tomorrow where he even comments on the Contador case.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2012/feb/13/bradley-wiggins-tour-de-france?

Bit strange for someone who felt merely soft peddaling the 2010 Giro destroyed his 2010 Tour, to say something like this about Contador's 2011 Tour just a year later.

He won't leave a massive void at the Tour in terms of the racing, because last year he was almost unnoticed until the L'Alpe d'Huez stage where he attacked early on. It was only then that we saw shades of his old self. Other people emerged – Tom Danielson, Tommy Voeckler, Pierre Rolland for example – and it will be the same this year.

Holy ****, 25 teams? How many riders per team? This could lead to some nasty chaotic sprints

btw this looks like the profile for the MTF

From this image looks more like 6-7 k @ 10-11% TBH
