I hope he's ready and in shape much earlier than Vuelta, cause last year even at some 1 day events he was competitive.

matti breschel criticizing rabo's management.

says they rode like a chicken without a head as the management didn't care about their riders, particularly the ones under performing

Let's not forget he also criticized Riis when he left him.

Though he's probably right on the Rabo team, but that's hardly surprising. In his book Phil complained about the opposite, he felt like a schoolboy again at BMC and they forced him to do stuff like yoga on training stages which he didn't like. Now he's doing his own thing again.

It's time for Matti Breschel to put his mouth where his legs are though. His only win I can remember is Dwars door Vlaanderen. And he was supposed to be the next Cancellara/Boonen of the cobbled classics together with Haussler.

A rough translation (Bolded is Matti, non-bolded is me):

Matti said:
- Der er et eller andet over Bjarne. Det er s&#229]
-There is something about Bjarne [Riis, red.]. It is a kind of an awe. You don't want to disappoint Bjarne. You appreciate it, when he praises you, and you listen to him, when there is critic, and then you'll try to do better. It wasn't like that at all at Rabobank. There you was more on your own, and people didn't care what you did, as long as you performed [well, red.]. At times you ran around like a chicken without its head. Everything took place in Holland, and I stood in Italy and was left alone.

I think I already read that article two days ago on a Dutch site. But with his injuries Breschel was never going to have a stellar year this season. He can't blame Rabobank for that.

I also don't believe in these Riis hocus pocus stories...

He chased after Jan Ullrich during a Tour stage. He was working for his teamleader Ivan Basso.

Ok, thanks for post. A bit surprised French liked Ullrich so much.

Evans 'aspires' to start his season at the Tour of Oman. He says that how well his training goes and condition of his virus will decide whether he competes or not.

If he's still hampered by the virus in training I doubt he will ever be competitive again...
He needs the miles in his legs for the Tour, he already rode too few races last year.
At his age it's often hard to come back from these kind of injuries, unless you're Vino ofc ;)
But I wish him luck with the virus, I hope he can race at least one good season before he retires.

He has to overcome the virus, with 36 you aren't getting the form anymore like when you are 23.

Hopefully he can be at form this year, with Froome, Contador and Andy being the top favourites ha can counterattack in the chaos. He missed a natural attacker last year against Sky in Andy or Alberto.

I read this article a couple of hours before http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cycling/cadel-reach-the-summit-again-20130104-2c96t.html
