Vacansoleil and DCM are reconsidering their sponsorship for 2014 and beyond. Meaning that there's a reasonable chance that next year Argos will be the only Dutch WT team.

So what, cycling is dead in the Netherlands now (apart from us hardcore fans). They are reacting like Germans after Ullrich here since USADA-gate.

Soon we can't even go cycling outside on a racebike anymore without getting booed or attacked by your average Dutch man or woman...cyclists are outcasts

Marcel Kittel and John Degenkolb will be the leaders of Dutch cycling :p

But yeah you're right, somehow the cycling crisis is hitting Holland the hardest atm, it seems. I'm not sure why, it's probably the Dutch holier than thou-attitude. I don't see anything on Sporza, for instance.

When people hear crime in Colombia they immediately think drugs because of the sensationalised Hollywood portrayals. They now.also think drugs when they hear.Mexico.so.he was saying that Mexico is more.dangerous than Colombia.

Of course in both Colombia and Mexico the violence is strictly limited to certain areas so its wrong to immediately link anything one hears to.some nationwide problem. Either way getting assaulted for a bicycle is hardly indicative of a war zone. It can happen and does happen anywhere. Happened to me.once in west London as i took myself on a tour de local housing projects. - though fortunately the 15 year old closest to me narrowly missed the punch and all i was left with was a reminder never again to take a left after the post office.

How am I surprised!

In a country where everybody even die-hard fans thinks Cycling = Bore de France, nobody's interested any longer. Mathematical logic.

The cycling we get we deserve ...

Neither Julich wants to be a DS. He's just a coach for now anyway.

De Jongh is a DS, they needed one and they hired him.

It was a gang of them, the one i said took a swing at me was merely the one who got the closest.

how many? they ran away then? or did you get away?

I'll agree for sure that things like that can happen anywhere, not to mention just aggresive idiots approaching you. one time someone chased me in a car and tried to fight me when I stepped out because I overtook him too hard(he was driving 20 km below max speed)

All i remember was cycling at night, saw a lot of youths climbing over the wall and got a bit wary. Then as they continued to mutliply coming over the wall, one shouted - get him, the closest one run to me to knock me off but I made it through the gap as they were all shouting something.

So I got away but things like this do happen occasionaly.

Thanks Hitch for the reply!
I knew where movingtarget was going with her/his comment but I was curious on her/his view on it. Nevertheless I appreciate your reply and agree with it :)
So don't worry movingtarget you don't have to respond to it anymore, it's all in the past and not even relevant to road cycling :)
