The Arctic Race of Norway:

'From August 8th to August 11th, 2013, the magnificent landscapes of Northern Norway will host the first edition of an out-of-the- ordinary stage race: the Arctic Race of Norway. A few weeks after the end of the Tour de France, the international peloton will be given the unique opportunity to enter the Arctic circle and compete at the heart of the fjords on the Norwegian coastline.'

Surely the most exaggerated vertical scale ever.

We are all used to GTs starting some distance from their home nations, but the two most decisive stages of a one week tour taking place 800km away from the host country's borders, and presumably necessitating a rest day in a one week race, is stretching credibility of this as a Polish race.

Cyclingnews article accusing Sky of doping

&quot said:
Alberto Contador may not win Tirreno-Adriatico but he revealed that taking on Chris Froome in Italy has given him vital insight on how Team Sky performs in stage races. It is information that could prove vital when he faces Team Sky's calculated and clinical way of racing in July at the Tour de France.

Lol in all seriousness though, wtf is a clinical way of racing supposed to be? (other than those issues which ought to be discussed in 'the clinic')

Okay, sure, but you know everybody is thinking something else if you type about 'clinical' when it comes to a cycling team. :)

Btw, this is kinda off-topic, but the habit in English for words to have such loose meanings annoys me. Just like 'chauvinism' has suddenly come to mean 'sexism', and like 'grammar' has come to mean 'correct spelling', or when people use 'literally' as a random indicator of emphasis. Generally I like English, but it has too many words, and anglophones keep on using their own words in silly manners.:p

When you do something in a clinical manner the inference is you have been very precise, clean and efficient, like you expect in a clinic. Its meaning reflects its origin.

'klinische aanpak/werkwijze'

And I thought this was common Dutch. Maybe it's not part of the Flemish way of speaking.

Ehhh, but despite being in Belgium now, I actually spent most of my life (and still spend a significant part of my life) in the Netherlands.

Maybe it's mostly used in football jargon, like The Sheep suggests? That could be, because I don't really watch any football.

If somebody would talk about 'een klinische aanpak', I'd actually think he'd be talking about a literal clinic, I think. Well, actually, I'd probably still understand what he means, because of context, but it doesn't feel like a normal phrase to me.

So apparently Nokerse Koers is cancelled.

Makes sense though, don't know how it is in Nokere, but where I am in Belgium there's >10cm of snow :D

Spring they call it..... seriously though, it was all wet and snow and cold up untill last week, than last week it was like 15-20 degrees Celcius some days, now it's freezing and >10cm snow again.
