Agree.
Belkin is making a business decision.
It would be interesting to understand the reason for it however.

Because they think their name (and products) are well known in Europe at the moment and therefore their goal of investing in a cycling team (gaining attention and European recognition) has fulfilled and isn't necessairy anymore.

That's the official one. But another one could be that companies want big victories and podium in GT's. Well, that's not the case, so perhaps they thinking it's not interesting anymore to put money in it.

Seriously? How could they expect these results with that roster. Not at the moment at least. They got some talent, but it would be foolish to assume, that they could win or even podium a GT this year.

Of course, a company as Belkin has the right to step out after 1.5 years. But the fact they intented at the beginning of the season to continue for at least another year, or perhaps more years to really build a strong team, and after a couple of months saying it is enough. It doesn't deserve the price of style.

But it's their right to do it. Cycling world still has to be grateful this kind of companies are willing to invest, not the opposite.
This company hardly invested... 2013 was fully covered by Rabobank, 2014 was mostly covered.

It's a very clever business decision on their part, probably the cheapest sponsorship anyone has ever had for two Tour de Frances in a row, but it's a big 'f.ck you' to the riders and personnel.

I just hope that this void won't be filled with yet another bicycle manufacturer stepping in to create a factory team. It's good for the sport to have exposure beyond that little circle so hopefully another company will step in.

If they had decided not to invest, Blanco/Rabobank probarly didn't excist at all. A company is not interested in the well-being of riders, but no company at all is.

That's why I say it's a hedgefund mentality. Business-wise it works, and makes you money, but ethically it's questionable.

Is your usual spelling of Gesink's name a recurring typo, or is it on purpose? If so, that's quite funny.

Also, you could be right about his career.

Real bad news, Belkin got their 15 minutes of fame with low costs. But they are running a business, not a charity and obviously they started sponsoring from a promotion point instead of their love for cycling.

Lets just hope they manage to find a new sponsor, with the young Dutch talent and the biking heritage of the country it should be possible.

I take it then, that you will not be donating 10euros to the Belkin PayPal account?!? :p

Come on lads, let's do this!!!

Cycling News Forum Pro Cycling Team

I had that very same thought on my ride yesterday. :D I'm in.

But I want Nibali, Andy, Contador and Quintana on the team. And I want them all sent to the Tour with the sole goal of taking Froome down.

You can get Bos for that and keep the real money to hire the riders that matter. I would start with Machado
