I'm guessing they went shopping for a team already based in Denmark, of which Trefor is probably the highest rated nowadays, and previous reports suggests that they tried getting into Cult Energy first, but failed.

Bjarne Riis has taken his first steps in returning to cycling with the former Tour de France winner and Lars Seier, former CEO of Saxo Bank, taking over the Danish Continental Team Trefor. It is now known as Team Virtu Pro-Veloconcept, and "will act as a development team to a future 'WorldTour' (team) performing at the world’s highest (level)."

Virtu Pro is an "ambitious fitness bike project" from Riis and Seier. Veloconcept is "a Danish company closely related to Jan Bech, a well-known investor of Broenby IF and Danish top football."

The agreement is only for the remainder of the 2016 season, but discussions for the future are underway. Riis and Seier will "take part in the overall planning of the future strategy, however they will not take part in the daily management and operations of the team."

Congrats to Bora and Bahrain for building bike racing. I hope that all the sky is falling predictions that Tinkof has forecast turn out to be mostly wrong. Seeing some of the recent signings by big named riders, and other key names set to retire, all in cycling are holding there breath hoping for good news.

Riis and Seier (former CEO of SaxoBank), have taken over the Continental Team Trefor-Blue Water and, together with another sponsor, renamed it Team Virtu Pro - Veloconcept

That feels a bit small-time. I guess pro conti next year?

Apparently they were pretty close to re-buying Tinkoff.
But I'm actually glad they decided to focus on the talents, rather than go "We want a WT team now."

Hopefully the team stays Conti and eventually fades away, the sport doesn't need Riis involved

OFFICIAL: Phillip Deignan is a horrible piece of work.
What do you mean?

Ferrand-Prevot made a clinical comment about Armitstead. Deignan (her fiancé) then tweeted, then deleted, 'having an affair with a married woman with children is also shameful', which would appear to be a reference to Ferrand-Prevot's relationship with Julien Absalon, and which is just morally indefensible (quite aside from the gender issues).

I always feel like people blow up these kind of things, we all tweet, post, say something one day we regret immediatly after saying it.

The thing is in the old days they were openly saying it straight in the face. Confronting each other. Playing the war of words.

Now, mailing things like that even through everyone's able to read it has got something shabby like acting behind someone's back.

What's even worse is the fact that apparently for the youth it has become normal. Bitching around on the internet. Even going way over the top with it. Missing any kind of honor and respectful behavior.

That's what it makes so bad from my pov!

I didn't say it's not bad, it's something people shouldn't do. But in my eyes it happens to everyone at anytime. I'm sure Deignan regrets it already.
The problem is that people now have a medium to directly unleash their opinion in the world which makes their consideration of what they are about to say much shorter then it used to be. Which results in messages like these.

Why is it morally indefensible? I don't think having an affair (if you are single yourself or in an open relationship, where your partner isn't against it) with someone who is married is wrong. The wrongdoing solely falls on the person who cheats his partner.
