It will feature every single sport affiliated to the UCI except for cyclocross. Road racing, track, BMX, MTB, Paracycling,...

I wonder how it'll mess with the road racing calendar considering it's unlikely to be held in september. The UCI probably prefers august.

If it's like 2 weeks after the Tour I don't think it would affect calendars too much, although the Vuelta would get the short end of the stick, no matter the Worlds route.

They can't hold it in August due to la Vuelta. Otherwise do a flat course for the sprinters as that really won't affect the Vuelta at all as they basically do routes showing they don't want the sprinters to even bother showing up.

Probably the first two weeks of August, to avoid overlapping with the Vuelta starting late August.

I'm just looking forward to seeing Cyclo-Dance (I know that's not the official term) on primetime TV.

For track (and Indoor Cycling), I suppose. But road? Usually in September, now a month earlier, in August.

Putting the Worlds in Aug is going to really screw it up. I can actually see a lot of riders just skipping it due to the time frame. To me the entire cycling calendar starting in June would have to be moved, pushing everything in June and July up a week and everything in August and after back a week. However, IMO this is just stupid and if I was a rider I'd say forget it to the Worlds in Aug and turn down an invite to go because it's totally screwing up the entire calendar and season.

It's not really (going to screw up the entire calendar and season). There are three important events after July, the Worlds being the most important.

I think there are many that very well may skip it. There are a lot of riders that skip it on a regular basis as it is, moving it to an earlier date will only have even more skipping it. The other thing is that could happen is riders who do want to go to the Worlds will use the Tour as training, which actually might have the good effect on bringing the importance of the Tour down a level.

Like when Australia switched the nationals from October to January. Instead of having the next one over a year later, they just had one after 2 and a half months. I think the guy rode 2 races with the jersey. Can't remember who it was, maybe Eddy Salas

About 10 months instead of a year, so more like 3/4th of the season, but it definitely is screwing who ever wins it in 2022.

For the Australian one when they switched it, it wouldn't have been worth it to the guy who won it for 2 months to even bother getting a jersey.

We're talking one month earlier.

Sagan also had it 13 months from 2015 to 2016 and then only 11 months from 2016 to 2017. But then 12 from 2017 to 2018.

Beginning of August vs end of Sept is basically 2 months.

What it'll do is turn the Tour into a race being used to train for the Worlds. As for how much it will effect the Vuelta will depend on the type of course it is.

I'm just a little concerned about overlaps within the World Championships.
If I'm right in my assumption/expectations that each "individual" World Championship will still have a full program (and it won't be some *** move of "We'll stick to the (male) elites."), then there'll have to be multiple events at the same time, after all; road alone takes about a week.
Of course that won't be a problem when it comes to venues; obviously track and MTB don't ride in the same location, but what if a guy like Van Der Poel wants to do both road and MTB? I suppose the solution would be to have no events in which the same people might compete at the same time.

Did I just cheat the sensor? Is "***" allowed if it comes from a bull?

They could move it (or Poland) to september like in Olympics years.

Anyway we still don't know how the calendar will be changed from next year with the reform (apart from California in the first week of may and the Giro start in the second half of may as stated by Lappy) so is hard to predict eventual impacts, maybe they are going to move the WC already from next year.

Tour de France should be starting in Copenhagen in 2021. It was official until several tweets got deleted again, but I expect at press release or something later in the day confirming it.
Pretty excited about it since I will be there at the start, hopefully they start off with a prologue in the streets of Copenhagen.

Previously it was alleged/stated that the municipalities that host the stage starts/finishes would provide more than half of the funding (55 million of the total budget of 90 million DKK), the state providing 17 million DKK, the involved regions 15 million and the remaining 3 million from various sponsorships.
