I'm loathe to bring this up again, but Twitter is awash with rumours after someone who works closely with British Cycling and the ToBritain posted that "Cavendish is going digital next year".

Contador is really saving him self for his standards, he's going to kill everyone in the Giro. It will be the first time we'll see him that fresh at a GT since the Tour in 2009. And how many MTFs does this Giro have? A lot :p

As far as i understand, Contador isn't riding Pais Vasco, so they'll only go head-to-head in the Fleche Wallonne before the Giro (where Di Luca won't be much of a challenger)

I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be if in form, former winner of La Fleche

His racing schedule:

Algarve, Murcia, Catalunya, Castilla y Leon, Fleche Wallone, Giro d'Italia, (probably ban after this, let's hope only 1 year)

I've been looking for this thread.

I was wondering if anybody else notices that the "Lates Pictures" area, has not been updated pretty much since Goss won the stage at Paris-Nice?

Wouter Poels: Good performances pay off

Looks like Vacansoleil are keen to keep Poels happy and on the team as long as they can. Also with Ricco gone they might have a few extra bucks to spend. According to Cyclism'Actu he will get an immediate raise in pay.

good to see him rewarded.
They should definitely invest in him, he has potential to be their 'big leader'.
He is a big reason I hope vasc. keep there PT license.

And could get a bigger one, if Ezequiel Mosquera is indeed suspended.

I'm going to Grenoble, well Chamrousse for the last week of the Tour. ****, **** holy ****

You will have the time of your life (and as I type, that stupid Black Eyed Peas song comes up in my head). Who are you going with?

:D

Just gonna be me in that 4-person chalet. I'm literally the only person I know who likes cycling. Except the guys at my club, but they're all quite a bit older than I am.

It'll be great anyway, as long as I organise everything ok. No idea how it was available (and so cheap - £25 a night, £2000+ off ). Kinda booked it on a whim, as I was going to go the Alps at some point in the summer, and had a look at the route last night, which fits pretty well.

Only thing I'm kinda worried about is that the race is coming up the Galibier the opposite side from where I am. Don't really know the process of getting up there to watch seeing as all the finish paraphernalia will be there/in the way.

Either today or yesterday (difficult to tell from his twitter) Fabian Cancellara presented his first book in Bern:

51fHrhXmNaL._SS500_.jpg

"Fabian Cancellara's World - the story of a cyclist" (by Benjamin Steffen and Christoph Gertsch)

In 1998, 17-year old Fabian Cancellara became the junior ITT world champion. Since then, the native of Bern has won many big races, Olympic- and WC gold medals and has become one of the figureheads of a sport, which still encounters a lot of scepticism. How is it to live in this cosmos as one of the best? The book shows Cancellara's rise to become a star, who knows great popularity both at home and abroad. Recently, the Swiss people stood by him the most, when doping allegations were done with. This discrepancy between fascination and scepticism has accompanied Cancellara since the beginning of his career. Not only Cancellara and companions speak about the world of a cyclist, but also comedian Massimo Rocchi, philosopher and sport sociologist Gunter Gebauer, as well as author Peter Bichsel, who does not hide his affection for Cancellara.

I am certain I won't be reading the book. Unless I learn German or they publish the book in English. Just how popular is he in Switzerland compared to Federer and various top winter athletes?

I think he's pretty popular but quite a bit below Federer and the skiers. I remember that he just recently got his first fan club in Switzerland (maybe 1 or 2 months ago) and I seem to recall some sort of best sportsman voting where he was quite behind. I might be wrong about the last one though
