I have sky for the football but i suppose its not worth the money if you were to get it on just for the tour down under.

I have eurosport and eurosport 2 but i added on eurosport HD last month coz paris-tours and lombardy was on it and at the time i didnt have that channel i had to wait that night to watch the repeat of the races on the normal eurosport. Eurosport showed a vuelta stage and a giro stage on HD only as well this year. For instance the angliru stage was on HD only.

I think they do this coz of their crammed schedule with moto GP and all that being on. I got it on my box because i dont want get caught out like last year.

Well even for football unless your interested in games like Fulham vs Bolton or whatever, good games dont really come along that often.

When they do I go to my gym and watch the game while lightly pedaling one of those lay back bicycles.

Probably the only other events sky have I really want to watch is boxing and maybe US Open. With the former you have to pay extra anyway to get the fight on ppv and with the latter, I just suck it up and watch the highlights on eurosport 10 hours later.

I was driving over to my parents place earlier today and listening to the radio they did an interview with John Craven who organizes the Australian National Championships and he claimed that Cam Meyer can eventually podium the Tour de France. Interesting.

I thought I was quite bullish on Meyer's climbing potential, but I'm not willing to go even close to that prediction. Bigger talent than he gets recognition for though, imo at least.

But why? In the European peloton he's a good, but not great, time trialist, and a moderate climber at best.

Who is John Craven to say, if it was coming from JV, White, Stephens, Bannan etc then you might listen to it.

Seems to me more baseless predictions from the Anglophones rock logic that brought you "Richie Porte will top 5 the Tour de France".

I mean no disrespect to Cam Meyer, top cyclist no doubt and I look forward to his success but if Fabian Cancellara has never even had a hope of coming top 20 in the Tour, never mind a top top tter and climber Menchov only scraping onto it, how is Cam Meyer going to podium?

I missed the start of the interview, the only thing that seemed plausible in my mind was that if Wiggins could finish 4th at the Tour, then eventually so could Meyer, but I have no idea why Craven said that.

Wiggins is certainly a better comparison than Cancellara, in terms of their physique... but still, Wiggins already was a top level time trialist, Meyer really isn't. Maybe when he switches to the road full time.

wiggins and meyer I se eno comparison. the australian track program is great in that riders 16/17 train, windtunnel etc like they are pros'of 30. in trackcycling you don't need to be 30 to be world class you can be world class at 20., but in roadcycling this is different that's why you see guys lik bobridge, meyer brothers and soon hepburn and durbridsge not breaking through really. their itt in junior and u23 is unreal because they've had an unreal advantage from very young age.

so the australian trackprogram is absolutely fantastic but it doesn't work taht way for roadcycling and wiggins wasn't from that program and from what I've heard appearantly didn't always train and focus so hard on his disciplines and was 80 kg in track, lot more than guys like meyers or bobridge, or dennis etc who don't have much weight to loose anymore. don't know how big hepburn and durbridge are

With Bobridge I'm willing to believe that he hasn't really had a breakthrough yet because he's rarely in top form for the road. He got 5th in the TT worlds, that's not an unreal advantage, that's just real talent.

Meyer and Wiggins are hardly comparable anyway, Meyer has never been a top pursuiter (his best is only around 4'20") whereas Wiggins dominated the discipline for years. Meyer on the other hand is miles ahead of his peers in pack races, but 40km on a track where tactics also play a key part is different to 200km on the road. What Meyer does have is incredible resistance and ability to recover from efforts in a short space of time.

He's shown nothing in terms of climbing so it's a bit naive to say he's going to be a GC contender in a GT, because at the moment being a GC contender in Romandie would be a stretch. So until he is able to go up a climb I see him more like a Kolobnev who can TT.

An odd thing to say from Craven. No real logic in that comment.

If Cameron Meyer say does a top 20 At Paris-Nice, Tirenno or something then maybe its something to consider in the future. But its pretty irrelevant at the moment because he hasnt shown anything apart from a decent pursuit and a reasonable ITT.

No great surprise to see the same poster once again spamming the forum with fake breaking news.

There was his news that Jan Ullrich was to announce his comebacks in 48 hours. This was about 2 months ago.
Then there was stage 1 of the TDF. With emotions running high, BR came in to announce that the organizers had decided there was no 3k rule and everyone was to get their own time (meaning Schleck and Gesink would lose minutes).

Now this.
