Isn't that the point of China etc?
It's a reference to the future not the present.

Gianetti is the one reason?
What happened to your Global crisis theory?

However, I agree he his the biggest factor.

The point was, that I wasn't saying that it was Pat's vision, rather asking if others felt it could be a possible factor...................which you clearly don't.
Of course, never let a sentence's full meaning get in the way of a patronizing response, eh?

the global crisis theory was an answer to you saying it's the worst year in cycling sponsorship, not to why geox quit. all other teams quit because of crisis yes and geox want out of gianetit lieing to themfor over a year

The sad thing is that many of the decent riders on Geox will be content with a minimum wage. Many worldtour teams are full already and the Geox riders will probably happily ride for next to nothing as long as they can remain in the world tour, which is probably the main goal for 90% of them right now.

If Bjarne is so damn broke, maybe Contador can get on the phone with Specialized and pick up a couple climbers. We can dream, anyway.

It seems obvious that Contador is not pleased with Riis. Speaking to the media that Saxo needs another climber, while there are no vacant spots left anymore.

Ideally they do need another climber. In the context of the interview referencing the merger of Radio Shack and Leopard Trek and their combined might in the mountains, it's not surprising he would say this. I don't think it is evidence of his displeasure with Riis' handling of filling the team's needs. I would think that he would realize that a lot weighs on the outcome of his 2012 status.

that's what really bothers me the most about Riis-let alone his personal history--he's just created the habit of "being broke"-so he can run the team very tight on salary while he gets a huge chunk for his bank account-in another words-how much can I get for nothing-philosophy.... If Alberto does not get the help he's seeking-I might think he'll be looking for a new tem in 2013....

Good luck to the boys. That's such bull****. Geox will get away with it too unless someone spends time & money in the courts. Cobo, Menchov Florencio & de la Fuente should have no problem finding teams. It just sucks that the other riders will end up back in the Continental squads after having already proven their worth in the Pro ranks.

Then there's the staff. They got the biggest screwover. Everyone already has their teams set up. Who needs more managers, helpers, drivers, cooks, masseuses, etc?

I'm not surprised by them pulling out.

Maybe they could have done it at a better time but in the UK Geox seem pitched as sporty shoes for kids - WTF were they doing getting involved with Gianetti?

Other posters have hinted at this and got shot down but I do wonder if he took advantage of Cobo and where he was.

( I have expressed doubts about Froome too )

Florencio is already going to Katusha. So he already had a ride for next year before Geox pulled out.

Do Saxo really need Duarte or Cobo, when Rafael Majka is going to be ripping it for Contador in the Alpes?

i am just being an amateur psychologist here, but i think this is a power struggle between contador and riis.

contador won with his own team allied against him. riis knows this and thinks he save some money and contador can still win with a less than stellar team if they are all working for him. contador may not need these riders, but he probably feels he has earned the right to demand whatever talent he needs. better safe than sorry.

i am not a fan of contador, but i tend to side with him over riis on this.

Hard to believe there is a power struggle between them, Contador contract ends in 2012 and he is only rider in the team who can bring a great sponsor (Saxo bank ends in 2012 too, I don't know about Sungard). Bjarne lose in this scenario. If Contador is cleared in november I see lots of sponsors calling Bjarne for 2013 but he needs Contador extends his contract.

The way the third week of the Vuelta is designed is the organizers' fault.

well can you blame them, with the mass exodus we generally get in the vuelta's latter parts. It is a shame.

Again, they screwed against their wishes really.
