He needs to stay on his bike. Odd that a guy who may be the best GCer at the cobbles needs to be told that!!

His TDF results are obviously good but could be extraordinary. There was the time he was in 4th until two days from the end despite spending the entire race working for Froome.

There was the time he crashed out when wearing the yellow jersey on stage 9 after winning the prologue. Ostensibly he was working for Froome but he was protected.

Then he won.

Then 2nd. When arguably he could have won.

And I find him very likable. A “good bloke”.

He could be very likable. But is way of riding is a lot boring. Always sucking wheels until the last km.

So in addition to his Tour win, podium, stages and days in yellow, is now one of only 5 riders this century to win 5 different WT stage races by my reckoning, and one of only 2 in history to win CdD, TdS and TdF. He's also found time to help his team leader win yellow on 5 occasions and a WC road race, he's won a Classic, won national RR and TT and took multiple Olympic golds, rainbows and WRs on the track. It's a phenomenal body of work.

You should really all be talking about Geraint Thomas, not Remco Evenepoel.

Don’t forget a couple of Algarves, Rundfahrts and a Paris-Nice…he’s a phenomenal rider, though he is essentially a TT specialist so admittedly not the most exciting rider to watch

One thing that we can all agree on about this man: always wears the best sunglasses in the peloton.

Cant say I agree

IS that you Fuglsang ??

I like Geraint ...a top bloke . IT is possible he makes time on the cobbles and is up there for a podium

The Ineos team for the first week looks strong- with Ganna, Rowe and Van Baarle in particular he has strong support for the cobbled stage. It will be intriguing to see how the first week plays out. If he’s still in the mix after the first week he has a definite shot at the podium, although I suspect he will be lacking compared to the best 4/5 in the toughest stages.

Correction: Geraint Thomas and Climate Justice Guy wear the best sunglasses in the peloton

Have to admit, I never thought Thomas would be as strong as he's been - and the best placed Ineos rider. The old "the road will decide" routine... shows how much I know. Good ride today.
Agreed. He is riding very well and with the time trial, could finish on the podium. Peraud started the tread of these older riders finishing on the podium in a young man’s sport many were thinking.

If G stays on the bike, he'll finish somewhere on the podium at this TDF. Bardet would need two minutes on him for the ITT. Not happening (so far). If bad luck happens to Pogi and Vinegar, G could even win this TDF. That should be enough to seize up the CN forum for a day at least.
