Really good to see Gesink back to his old self at least once again. Hopefully he can continue like this throughout the TDF. :)

And the year! If this climbing performance means he can still be competitive in the classsics I back and cheer for him to win one of the Canadians and the Worlds in a uber and class drag attack.

He already looked great in the 2014 Vuelta before he had to leave the race, but today he was really strong.

merijn zeeman cries lol

Lol? Why lol at it.
The huge amounts of crap the guy had to endure the last 3-4 years is ridiculous. If you have been close to that person and then that person finally seems to perform back at his best on worlds biggest podium... Well i can imagine that makes him emotional. In combination with a reallly poor year from lotto-jumbo...

Then he finished 6(4).I would be glad with such a performance this TDF.

Great to see Gesink being able to ride to the talent he obviously had when he was very young, so much as gone wrong for him but to come back shows great character. Super impressive ride, has set himself up beautifully for a shot at the podium.

after what happened to gesing these last few years, after the *** Rabo-Blanco-Belkin has gone through (sponsors leaving left and right) after all the *** they got on here too, I imagine he can be emotional
from behind our screens we don't get how much they fight and train and suffer to get there
gesink and zeeman know par coeur every bend in calpe and alicante and girona where they kept on training on and on, while rabo left, after the broken leg, when belkin came and went, when he got heart operation etc etc

yesterday gesink was great. it was very nice to see him attack, and then not lose much, and see him in top 10

This! That was the real comeback. Was a realy good ride yesterday though, attacking so early and still finishing 4th, hope to see him up the road today also. :)

At least tried to get away to win some time today. I think this shows he's in excellent form but better yet that he's in a good place mentally. Given the times differences a 3rd of 4th place is not just a dream anymore.... I hope he makes it to 3rd, it would be the perfect comeback for him.

Too bad about the flat, but on the positive side; he went up the plateau on his own and only lost 1m 01 on the favorites and those guys didn't pull any punches. Gesink is in good form and I think AC will have to watch his back in the Alps because Bobby G is coming ;-)
