Ryo Hazuki said:I would suggest so yes. but if he rides a good gc he will do top 5 easily. not just top ten. if he fails he could finish 40. who knows

Plenty of Vuelta a Colombia winners have ridden in Europe, and few have been a GC threat.Ryo Hazuki said:he has won the vuelta colombia. that's as close as it gets to a gt.
WT ranking:Ryo Hazuki said:back in the doping days yes. in the 80s it was an indiciation and now colombian cycling is stronger and more allround then ever. besides it's also the way henao won it and against who that was impressive.

Even assuming those times aren't coming back (let's not go there in this thread, but, you know...), the fact remains that no recent Vuelta a Colombia winners have shown much in GTs, except for Rujano*. The theory that it should be a good indication of GT potential in a cleaner peloton has merit, but remains untested.Ryo Hazuki said:back in the doping days yes. in the 80s it was an indiciation and now colombian cycling is stronger and more allround then ever. besides it's also the way henao won it and against who that was impressive.

I trust Ryo here and hope Henao will make Top-10 if uninjured.

Scarponi, Cunego, Basso or Nibali, Kreuziger or Kiserlovski, Rujano, Pozzovivo, Gadret or Dupont, Rodrigues, Nieve will all be up there contesting for a top 10 and there are always one or two surprises.

If you care about performance in the biggest races, yes you should. Of course the WT ranking system is far from perfect, but CQranking includes races in South-America where none of the Europeans take part. Well d0h, of course the Colombians will score.FF'Wilco said:They are on 8th place in country ranking 2012 (cq). Ahead of GB and USA for example. Does anyone really care about WT ranking ?
