If Cobo should ride the Giro, he should be one of the GC contenders with the lowest number of racing days in the spring.

As far as I know, up to now, he has just two days (Vuelta a Murcia, beginning of March)! ...

Even if he rides Pais Vasco and Romandie, this will add 12 days, so 14 days of racing total. Not much, but he is a rider with a special approach to his sport, so I think he will be ready anyways.

They´ll have a strong squad, let´s not forget about Arroyo.

giro always got great coverage in spain.. the vuelta does not however in italy. yet all the flemish races even 3 days de panne are all broadcasted live in italy :) italians like more heroic stuff like cobbles and sterrato
This is just because RAI hates unipublic (or vice-versa) apparently. RAI said they won't broadcast the Vuelta because they couldn't make a deal with the organizers, quite clearly saying there was a serious quarrel.

Cobo won the Vuelta but there's no guarantee that he'll hold it together and continue with this level of riding. I can't help thinking about the lost years after he left Saunier Duval when he wasn't a factor in any race. Movistar knows with Valverde they will at minimum be in the running for a stage win and a top ten in the gc. With Cobo they're really not certain which one of him they will get. He's never done much at the Tour and now many here expect him to be given the team leadership based on his Vuelta victory? I hope he continues with the form he showed in the Vuelta and does a great Giro and maybe combines with Valverde to make some noise for Movistar at the Vuelta.

Cobo has never done much at the Tour because his team withdrew from race. He was high up on GC if you recall.

Valverde has yet to impress me since his comeback. The old Valverde would have dropped Wiggins on that Mende climb.

Are there any strong timetrialers in the Giro other than guys like phinney, pinotti or de gendt.
I am looking forward to see if pinotti or phinney can pull it off in the prologue.

sohrabi is great to see him ride.

maybe malori will ride?

Yeah he is good too. Maybe its malori vs pinotti for the time trials. sohrabi was a monster in the asian tour, interesting to see how he would go.

Gustav Larsson is usually a good time trialisth. He was good in the Paris-Nice prolouge, even without the rain I think he would've podiumed, now he won instead.

Pinotti could be considered a GC guy, especially considering that his whole season is being built around Giro, I doubt he will do anything but he will have an aim at the top10 undoubtebly

Uran doing Giro gets me excited. Unless Sky have entirely changed their plan for Giro, he won't have the team fully supporting him. Uran/Henao/Nordhaug (unless he's doing Tour of Norway), with young 'uns like Thomas and Kennaugh in (potential) support could be exciting.

Google translation kept talking about his hair, so I'm a little clueless, but does it say at the end he'll decide at a later date whether or not to also ride the Tour or the Vuelta?

he was going to aim for both giro and tour was the initial plan. now will evaluate how he fele after giro and what test results show or something how he recovers.

should be good then as uran has extremely good recuperation

Wonder how Siutsovs feeling, he was announced as the Giro leader when he signed (with large sections of the team obviously reserved for chain duty).
