My bad, reread the thread. The Brescia paper.

Sorry been reading so many sources have muddled them all up.

Punta Veleno rumour - Brescia paper (First to announce Tre Cime)
Today's CN article - MTT @ La Polsa scheduled for Friday

I see.
CN article swaps the Gavia/Stelvio stage with the MTT. It hasn't much sense to finish in Val Martello and then make the MTT in Mori, since stage 17 will finish already in the garda surroundings. I guess CN just messed up.

Can there really be so few sprinter stages? I would prefer if the first week had the TTT, one very tough stage, one hilly and a lot of sprinter stages. No Vuelta stages please!
Probably 6 stages for sprinters I think. That's not a unusual figure for the Giro.
As for the "Vuelta stages", there shouldn't be many. Maybe only Monte Jafferau is to be regarded as such.

Who here goes to see the Giro in person? I'm trying to convince my darling husband that we should go once he retires, but he's not persuaded. I'm wondering how fun/exciting it is. :)

I've been to watch the Giro only twice: The first one was a ITT, so it lasted a lot. Surely fun to watch. The second one was a MTF (I was on the first ramps of the final climb). On one hand is more exciting than an ITT because you directly see the race situation, but on the other hand is quite a brief excitement. ;)
Anyway is something every cycling fan should experience once :D

If you go to the florence stage though there well be loads of people, you can get on top of the hill so you see them go slow and the race situation, and you get to see them 3 times. You dont have to travel that much either, and you can see florence after the race/before/ both.

I didn't do pretty much anything. Just collecting rumours behind my desk.

Anyway, IF there's Punta Veleno, it'd be a far worse route. I hope (and think) there won't be.

Well, the Brescia paper was the first to break the news about the Tre Cime stage, too, right? If so, I'm guessing the Punta Veleno rumor is also true. All the other rumored stages they mention seem to pan out.

You can console yourself with the fact that it's technically not an MTF. Nibali won't like the descent, though. :p It doesn't seem likely though, ONLY GC relevant stages in the third week... I'll give you that.

That sounds really fun!

I think my DH believes I'd be having a bit too much fun w/all the Italian men watching the race, ha-ha!

Local Vicenza's newspaper is talking about a possible finish on top of Monte Berico (a short but steep climb) or a ITT.

The stage from San Salvo to Pescara (stage 7) could feature Passo Lanciano... though far from the finish (around 35 kms from the end of the descent). The final part could be either hilly (let's say like this year's stage 6) or dead flat.
