Gazzetta says that the second rest day is after Galiber (which is also what Eshnar posted, so it is the one I'll believe), and Steephill says it is after the next stage. It makes me
Well why should you trust any source other than Gazzetta :p
Steephill probably reports the route as it was rumoured (the rest day was supposed to be after Ivrea).

Fantastic preview!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot!
Really looking forward to this Giro.
I hope many great gC riders will be on the start line!
This just reminded me how much better next years Giro is compared to the Tour failure.

awesome work eshnar!!!!

when compared to the tour route this giro route actually looks very good

Thanks guys :)
yes compared to the Tour this looks a lot better than it did ;)

- You make Stage 1 sound exciting, although maybe it's a little too easy. Actually I think this idea of a Worlds style circuit race on the opening day is great (why isn't it done more often?) - gives everyone a chance at taking the lead
- Subsequently - who the hell will lead for the first week? Lots of breakaway and classics specialists (and their teams) will be engaged in their own battle.
- The stage through Chieti and the Firenze one are too short to provide what may otherwise have been an interesting GC battle (although the Chieti one would probably be go-slow like Rubiano's win this year).
- Don't underestimate the climb at the end of the ITT
- The guys who lose 3-5minutes on the ITT need to attack the climb on the way to Montasio
- Stage 12 will be beyond most sprinters, it should be lightning fast, they will have to come back from getting dropped three times to win (this is great example of a well designed short sprint stage).
- Something will happen in the finish towards Cherasco
- Telegraph-Galibier will always be one climb!
- Hopefully there is coverage from Gavia, as that will be more interesting than Purito attacking the final km.
- Why don't they finish in Paris?

Great work, hadn't had a proper look at the Giro route until now, I really like this parcours actually, should be good racing on most days. Roll on May!

great job Eshnar :)

i really hope this will be a great battle,i love the two time trials, love galibier, love tre cime, it has to be a great giro this one

let's see what wiggo can do

The two TTs both really suit Wiggins. Personally I hope he takes a big chunk in both, as it will force the other top guys to race early on the Gavia/Stelvio stage and to Tre Cime. Could be a super race.

Havent read it all yet, but im pretty sure its a far better preview than any of the crap the the cycling press will come up with.

Chapeau Eddy, and nice to see im not the only one with too much time on my hands and not the only one who spends al lot of that time on the giro.

STAGE13: Busseto - Cherasco 242 kms
As you can see, the only GPM is Diano D'Alba (5.5 kms at 4.4%), which is quite senseless since there's a way more serious climb (4.4
kms at 7.3%) just after it, topping at 32 to go.
Great preview of the course. Only one thing: map and profile indicate another route to the top of Diano D'Alba, not the main street SP32. It should be the smaller Via Romina, which semms to have good fresh surface. The climb is really steep: 2.3 km 10.2 %.

The route is a lot better than I originally realized. Thanks for all your hard work Eshnar. I'm disappointed and surprised there are not more stages where Nibali will be able to attack on a descent. Still I think these parcours will produce a very entertaining Giro. The tour organizers on the other hand should be ashamed.

Thanks! You're right, I'm editing...

EDIT: Done. It actually seems more like 2.7 kms at 9% or so.

Great review, Eshnar! Very much appreciated.

I actually kinda like the route although I'm definitely not a fun of all the short stages - what's up with that?
But usually the most entertaining stages are those suited for classics specialists, and there are a lot of those in this Giro. I like.
