Wind could be a factor, the forecast is NE wind with an average speed of 24km/h and gusts of wind up to 42-43km/h.

A lot depends on Quintana's TT'ing. He's not done many TT's this year, and last year he was very good outside GTs but still sucked a bit in GTs. You could blame the Tour TTs on bad form, but the Vuelta wasn't too good.

Dumoulin absolutely has to crush this if he wants a chance of a miracle. If Quintana stays within 1'30 and 1'00 of Pinot, I think it's game over.

We can only hope that Quintana has a disastrous TT and gets crucified by Dumoulin and also walloped by Pinot, Mosllema and Nibali. I've nothing against Nairo, but if he does well the Giro is over as a race already.

Thats brutal but for the sake of Il Cento it would be the best scenario! Lets hope Nairito loses 3/4min on TD and Pinot (not sure if its realistic tho)

I hoped that one of my outsiders, well, in my opinion he is still a strong outsider, Zakarin, would not lose 2 minutes as he did today, but I still have high hopes for him. There are still mountain stages to climb and he is a good ITT rider. What can we expect from him in this ITT test? Can he claw some time back on guys like Pinot, Nibbles, Mollema? I've excluded Dumoulin because, well, for obvious reasons, Dumoulin is definitely the favorite to win the ITT and put time on a good amount of time on everyone, and I also excluded Quintana because I don't really see Zakarin challenging Quintana for the win, but mostly for a place on the podium. Who knows, maybe it's already a two horse race.

I think some are underrating Nibali. He can turn a very good result at any given ITT and why not in Montefalco? I think he can finish in the top 10 of this stage, maybe more, if he is in solid form, but who knows if he is. He stayed with Quintana for a while, but blew up a bit, then stabilized. I don't expect him to lost too much in the ITT. Maybe I am wrong. I also think that some are overrating Pinot. He isn't a bad ITT rider obviously, but he can be beat by the likes of Nibali, Zakarin and Mollema. Not to mention Jungels, Pozzovivo and Kriuswijk, though none of these guys were especially impressive today.

Gosh, that's a little harsh! I certainly don't wish a 'disastrous' TT on anyone! What I do hope is that Dumoulin and Quintana have great TT's, but that Dumoulin gets 2+ minutes on him, making the second half of the Giro much more interesting where Quintana has to attack and Dumoulin has to respond. Plus the last TT should be fascinating if the gap is 1:30 or so in Quintana's favor.

The closer the race is between as many riders is good for the organizers and fans.

Blockhaus is so difficult and steep... Tom was so strong on that climb that I think he will crush it in this ITT and beat Quintana by over 2m30s. Which will set up a great battle in the Alps as an aggressive Quintana attacks Tom on at least four stages :D

I don't think people are overrating Pinot, outside of the flat TT at Tirreno he hasn't put in a bad TT since he improved on the TT bike in 2016. Also he did beat home a quality field in last years Romandie including some of the main GC guys he's going up against in this race, I don't think he can win this TT but he should be beat home most of his true GC rivals outside of Dumoulin.

Dumo to destroy everyone. Those tiny, not steep climbs really suits him. Pinot at 1:30. Mollema at 2:15. Nibs at 2:40 and Nairo at 2:30 for sure.
