I wanted Nibali to win because of Scarponi and because we hadn't had an Italian winner yet. And because I severely dislike Landa, as a person. What I've found about him isn't pretty.
He comes across as a really nice guy.

I had huge expectations for this stage. Sad it needed Major Tom **** to ignite things.
Giro is wide open.

A gossip-y way of looking at things. Trying seeing viewing a sports historian instead. Be objective.

Not a huge fan of Sagan's personality. I'm 100% sure we would get along. BUT I still root for him because I like his style, aggression and initiative. He is an artisan on the bike.

Off topic, but Sagan's personality actually made me root for Majka at AToC a little bit. Seeing how he, sometimes with his brother's assistance, keeps trying to throw Majka into the Hansgrohe shower display at appearances, makes me feel for poor old Majka constantly getting hazed and looking shell-shocked afterwards. And I have never been a Majka fan before.

I don't like him either but I can separate racing from gossip and personality worship.

Sagan is a demigod on a bike.

Well as a fan with no particular favourites, and not minding who wins this Giro. Now I'm firmly rooting for Tom D as I think that was a bit sneaky today, especially from Zakarin.

Why don't you write it here?

Yeah, I'd like to know what this is about too. Only thing I've ever seen against Landa is that he seems kind of dumb.

I'd like to know too ?

Brailsford said in an interview recently that Mikkel Landa was a very very intelligent person ...love architecture , etc
Oh and he rides for Sky of course. His malice knows no bounds.

Once Movie Star continued racing after the moto accident, then it would be folly to expect anything else for the rest of the race.

Zakarin is not only riding against Dumoulin, Nibali and Quintana are his opponents, too. I asked that yesterday, is he supposed to ignore that?

Thomas crash: Yes, that one is also debatable and I could say ok if they just plain admit it afterwards. Race was on. But I hate their "I did not really know" excuses.

What they didn't know? That it was Thomas?! Who the *** cares who was in the crash!!! They pushed the pace 30km before the crash, they wouldn't stop for anybody!

Sagan is like a 16 year old kid until he jumps on a bike and even then he is doing wheelies up mountains............

Oh c'mon. Show me the unwritten rule that you must not attack if the leader has to take a sh*t. I think they were already too generous to not do an all out attack as soon as Dumoulin stopped.
Don't get me wrong. I wish they had waited, I really want him to win, but saying other teams are unsportsmanlike because of this is nonsense.
That's not what I implied. It's just that you know even before something happens, that Movistar will NEVER wait or do someone a favor. That's just their way of racing.

did Contador wait for andy at the chaingate?

edit: awfull grammar

Or better, did Contador waited EVER?

i'm ok with that, this is cycling racing

Doesn't anyone but me remember LeMond having a bad stomach and riding over the mountains with it literally running down his legs and stinking to high heaven? He won that TdF!!!

Yes, many times. Do some research. chaingate is actually the only time EVER he didn't wait, yet he still gets attacked because of it. How different it is for Movistar.

Well, they actually did wait today. You might argue that they didn't wait long enough, but there's no question they waited.

This. They soft pedaled and looked at each other for what seemed an eternity. Then Zak went, they brought him back and soft pedaled again. You can only wait so long....this is a Bike Race!

He kinda didn't wait for Landa after his mechanical in 2015. Which was obviously totally fair.

Yes I remember! Surrounded by his teammates who were 'washing him down' with their bidons!

I do- and Lemond apparently left a mess on some Hinault flyers...

For the love of Pete, can we just get past the waiting crap? If you (as a rider in the race) feel some personal obligation to wait for some idiot who can't shift, has to drop a deuce, can't stay vertical, whatever, then by all means wait. But IT'S A BIKE RACE. Get over it. It's not like Movistar upped the pace, it was pretty apparent they actually lowered it until Nib's attacked. Tom D just wasn't going to hitch back on due to fatigue or possibly GI illness.

Really, what about Valverde crash in 2012 Vuelta, Landa in Giro 2015...?

I think you'll find it was Sky that pushed on after Valverde's crash in 2012, however Valverde was quick to blame Contador, of course.

Landa was payback. Lovely, juicy payback.
