UAE Emirates chasing not even they know why.
Without looking at the coverage I bet Cannondale chases in both groups...or they don't because they don't have anyone in the Nibali/Quintana group

How did that happen guys ? Did Movistar paced on the descent and peloton broke ? If anyone has insights thx !

Seems Movistar and Bahrain drilled it on the descent. Dumoulin must have been too far back.

Thank you very much!

Just wondering why are Orica and LottoNLJ pacing behind... What do they have to lose ? Their 8th and 9th spot ? Not sure that someone behind them on GC was with Nibali/Quintana group, but I might be wrong. TD can send them some flowers.

If Jungels is in the front group Orica have every right to chase for Yates' white jersey. Seems Kruijiswick and Mollema in Dumoulin group too.

They said that Tom was back in the group before they went on the attack, but was a long way back. Whether it is right or wrong the stage has had a touch of excitement.

I reckon it's hard to draw conclusions from what we know. But yeah if Jungels' ahead they have the right to do so, white jersey is their last shot tbf.

So after spreading a load of BS about toilet stops, Eurosport now saying the split was on a descent.

You don't stop for a toilet break on a descent, two stages from the finish of the race, unless you're an idiot.

This is surely all going to come back together, but these unexpected harder efforts early in the day could make the final climb more interesting.

Don't think it was a toilet break anyway, Pinot wouldn't have send his man upfront if so.

I prefer the toilet break story. It's funnier.

Sitting Bull Quintana and Crazy Horse Nibs joined by Lame White Man Tibo to annihilate Major gen Tom Custer. The real Lame White man though was killed in the battle of Little Big Horn.
