Most likely Bahrain secretly has got pretty good business relationships with Israel. They won't skip IMHO!

How likely is it for Bahrain and UAE teams to skip the Giro on sponsor orders now that Israel is official, and what would be the repercussions for the teams but also for the race?

The UAE and Bahrain have no diplomatic relationship with Israel, that could mean no Aru or Nibali.

Iran ain't got no diplomatic relationship with Israel either. Yet, you know who has been the most important arms supplier of Ayatollah Khomeini? Yeah, Israel!

This might be the first ever Giro that starts and finishes outside of Italy, if they decide to end the final TT on the St Peter's square.

You guys are crazy if you think RCS is doing this without being 150% sure all teams will come.

I think this is a very bad choice for cycling, Israel should not be aloud to host the giro, before certain things are sorted out.

If there was a boycott from both Gulf teams, Vegni will pressure UCI to align an italian national team. This would be quiet an armada : Nibali, Aru, Visconti, Ulissi, Conti...

For other teams and riders, it depends on the level of geopolitical views put in the route, especially in occupied territories such as Eastern-Jerusalem.

Money will come from Israel, which is pushing hard to grow its tourism sector. It would need an estimated £10 million (€12m) budget, with around €4 million going directly to the organiser for the hosting rights.

money, money, money .... So we'll have to put up with even more Israeli tourism ads on Eurosport?
It's strange not more people flock to Israel. I hear the beaches are magnificent, especially in the Gaza strip, where people are swimming in raw sewage because of certain blockades.

They would require permission from their trade teams though.

Vegni pressurizing UCI, lol.

If he is going forward with this it's because he knows everybody is fine with it already.

Confirmed by president of Israël cycling federation: TT in Jeruzalem (partly through old city), stage through Negev-dessert (echelons?), stage to Tel Aviv and then transfer to Sicily. Only Bahrain objected, but they will attend.

Organising an international event through occupied territory (i.e. the old city in Jerusalem) is clearly political greenwashing. I find it reprehensive.

As per the first KOM, I think that the Scorpions ascent, not far from Dimona (מעלה עקרבים for LS :D ) would be a great pick.

Great News, will bring fantastic pictures!
I only hope that the fact it's a TT doesn't mean they 'll cancel a TT later within the race

Looks like Sorgenti del Piave will be in... I'm not an expert in Italian, but they claim that it will be on the second Friday, and precede Zoncolan and the Dolomite stage. Three mountain stages in a row

The article mentions Forcella Zovo before it, my super seep training climb.
Zovo.gif

Forcella Zovo, descent into the Val Visdende, then Sappada or Sogenti del Piave.
The first part of the descent needs to be paved and it's pretty much a small Vuelta goattrack with over 20% steep ramps.
That would be the hardest 2nd week since 2011.

Yeah but it also says that Stage 12 will finish in Romagna and the area around Cesenatico, which would make for a 200+ km transfer from Cesenatico to Nervesa.

Other interesting things in it, it says that the TT will have a finish on a climb which I hadn't realised, Stage 9 will go into Lazio, and an excursion into France is probable.
