RR has blocked this Giro out of his memory because both Nibali and Roglic bottling it.

People need to get a grip with the 'worst field ever'. In 2015, Contador had to beat an unknown Basque climber in Landa who had never been near his level of that race, an Italian hopeful in Aru who had broken through the year before, and then Amador and Trofimov were next in line. Lol.

Pogacar is wiping the floor with a Tour winner.
O’Connor and Martinez are no slouches either. Experienced and proven at this level as well.

Bardet is going great this season. Got a few GTs under his belt too.

A few young guys like Tiberi, Arensman and Cian (shame he had to drop out, would have been good to have him in the race).

It is not terrible at all.

Pog is just that much better and as you say wiping the floor with them.

They arent as weak though as people will make it seem.

They are really a weak field.Honestly they are like the third division of best GT riders.

Thomas is getting old and way worse than last year, Martinez is a domestique, then guys like Zana, Rubio or Hirt in the Top 10.....

There's not anybody even from the "second division" of best GT riders like Hindley, Carapaz, Mas, Tao hart, Gall, Carlos Rodriguez.

Obviously "first division" (Vingegaard, Pogacar, and then Roglic and Remco).

Yawn.

All the time?

What the *** are you even on about?

Spandelles? Multiple Tour stages where he attacked in the first 20 kms. I mean, literally, what the ***...
Spandelles was basically last minute if he wanted to win the Tour. Given the situation he hadnt been very aggressive at all.

My point is that when Pogacar attacks from far usually theres 0 stakes cause he wins by default in that race anyway.

Essentially hes just kicking down.

At the end of the day, you can only beat the guys who are there, and perhaps the level will look better in a few years time. That said, Landa and Aru were actually able to challenge Contador in the mountains in a way we haven't seen from Pogačar's competitors in this race (yet), but Contador was of course not at his career peak in 2015 either.

Aru and Landa obviously also had the benefit of being on the same team, although they also fought each other a bit during the race.

There's just not much truth to the theory that Pogacar is conservative when he isn't clearly the strongest, the reality is he was just significantly worse than Vingo in both 2022 and 2023.

He still attacked from far out a lot of times (especially in 2022), sadly Rick closed his eyes every time that happened.

Last year, it was closer for a long time, and it looked like he could win by taking small chunks whereas it was always unlikely he would succeed in dropping Vingegaard from far out.

But alas, Rick is always playing clever and chastising riders for stupid tactics, yet when Pogi (always) races tactically cleverly, he shall be chastised for not attacking. Goalposts will always be moved, and Pogi can never win.

Contador dislocated his shoulder. Contador pre crash would smoke both Astana. We saw how strong he was in Abetone, Porte was the only able to follow him and Aru benefited from that.

Wow, what a victory by Teddy! One of his best wins: the Pink Panther riding away in the snowy Alps and gaining minutes quickly. I thought he would attack at the end but they decided to go for it earlier (maybe cause breakaway advantage was around 3 minutes with Nairo in contention). No need to talk about the Giro GC anymore, the gaps are becoming comical. Congrats to Nairo on a strong ride! He would've easily won the stage if not for an early attack by Il Campionissimo. Tough luck this time.

Vingegaard, Roglic, Evenepoel, Bernal, Ayuso, A.Yates, S.Yates, C.Rodriguez, Kuss, Landa, Hindley, Carapaz, Tao, Almeida, Mas.

Apart from Pogacar, only Thomas, out of this Giro crew, belongs in this company.

I agree with you that Pogi is one of the most aggressive riders in the peloton; that he has both made brave moves and showman-moves (compliment!) regularly.

And I hope your defence of riders racing tactically sound also extends to the other Slovenian mountain sprinter.

He isn't kicking down, lol. As I said in a later post, he attacks early if he needs to gain a lot of time (see Spandelles). Quintana didn't. That's what he said.

Vingegaard is his equal so it wouldn't be particularly prudent to attack early to appease some Dutch keyboard warrior, would it? I prefer him to race to win and he seems to do so too.

Oh, I also remember him attacking on the second Kwaremont, where was Vingegaard there?
