imho, nothing is legendary when true competition is absent. It's nice on its own, but not something for the abolute gallery of great, epic rides.

That's not to say Pogacar (and earlier in the season MvdP and others) aren't doing their best, but it's pretty much rubbish when the diffenence in level is such that even bookies have stopped to offer any bets.
I dont agree and it was a performance that probably defines his win in this Giro on the Queen-stage. It was a huge performance and he demolished everyone.

Will be regarded as a legendary win.

Tell me when does Pogacar attack when he is versus a top Vingegaard?

This is pure *** eating arrogance
Err… on The penultimate climb in the 2022 Tour? Or do you mean last year, where he first didn’t need to attack and then didn‘t have to? I mean, I don‘t think he would have followed Nibali when Froome dropped his chain on the Croix de Fer but besides that it was pretty spot on.

He was already head and shoulders above all others.

The scenery is great, the main actor is performing, but I'd want at least a duel, or some excitement. Heck, if Pog was absent, this race would have been exciting. Now it's a procession. Pog can't help it he's so good and I really like him, but this Giro is beyond predictable in the results, and a predictable bike race is, imho, either a post-tour criterium or a Sunday club ride. To have the Giro in this category is... painful.

You can say what you want but that does not let go of the fact that the win was huge and a piece of history.

Porter, Luz Ardiden, Planche, AdH, Peyragudes, Cambasque, Puy de Dome and Grand Colombier were all last minute.

You didnt watch Tour 2022, or?
C'mon, he attacked Vingegaard on the Galibier, the Peyresourde and the Spandelles in 2022 (and didn't he attack on the penultimate descent of the Foix stage too?). He never attacked on a penultimate climb in 2023 but there was absolutely no moment in that race where that would have made sense. He really didn't lose those Tours for a lack of trying. Quintana argubly did.

Edit: Quoted the wrong post. Was meant as a reponse to Red Rick.

It's not much in terms of excitement, but in terms of aesthetics, which to me is almost as important, a ride like today's is beautiful. Much like watching van der Poel float over the cobbles.

I still think, and results of the recent years seem to prove it, Thomas is after Pogacar and Vingegaard in the next tier. Maybe Roglic and Evenepoel have a slight edge. But slight (last years Giro?). The next tier with Mas, Hindley, Carapaz I see weaker than Thomas tbh.
Last year I had Thomas 4th best GT rider, but he has disappointed so far - especially in the ITTs.

Nice rides by Quintana and George Steinbrenner, but Pogačar once again proved that he's a lick merchant and a ghost.

LMAO POGACAR

Brilliant interview. Like a true CN-poster

What a legend haha

Great stage, I was a bit skeptical of the route ahead of the stage but this was another demonstration that climbs that are not super steep are actually better to do these legendary performances.

I don't know the numbers but for me this was one of the Pogačar's career. I was comparing it to Le Grand Bornand stage in the 2021 Tour when he attacked on Romme-Colombière but this time Arensman actually worked and without that the gaps would have been even bigger. He also dispels the myth that he suffers more in these long high-mountain stages.

Quintana was my pick for today and he didn't disappoint, sure he rode smart but he completely dusted his breakaway companions and if it wasn't for an alien Pogačar he would have easily won. Gutsy ride from Steinhauser too.

Among the other GC riders, thumbs up for Martinez for trying to follow Pogačar and keeping consistent, Arensman with a great performance today, he really is built for these long high-mountain stages and on the contrary Tiberi shows that he still needs to improve for these tappones. Good showings from Bardet and Rubio as well.
