Great win by Alaphilippe. Once the gap started hovering in the 45 second range I knew he had it. He also attacked the descents better than the chasers. Crazy speeds.

Maestri ended up 9th, which is great given the effort he had given riding with Ala the whole time.Want to see Maestri and Julian together post stage
Ala throwing you a bone to make up for a teammate constantly fumbling it.Spot the difference
Fortunato not sprinting for 12th as well, criminalGreat sportsmanship shown from Scaroni not sprinting for 4th, Vino will be fuming
Has he always been this funny? That was classic. Valgren was a hoot, too. Said he “died with his shoes on.”Trentin:
"The last climb was not really a Matteo Trentin climb"
I wouldn't call the old school custom of the winner (whoever of the two that is) paying the loser a bribe.i hope Maestri got a nice bribe from Alaphilippe for today

I'd call it a bribe when one of them promises to pay the other for some specific behaviour.really? that's exactly what it is. which is fine with me, that's cycling.
Hopefully he won't be too disappointed when they tell him it was Alaphilippe and not Masnada.here's the Maestri interviews. Says it was a fantastic day out there, and he is very happy. It was an honor for him to race with such a great champion.

In so far as money was promised, I don't think he was bribed to pull. I find it far more likely for them to agree that if one of them won, the other would get paid. That would of course motivate Maestri to pull, but it wouldn't be a bribe (as I see it).yeah exactly, this is probably what happened. Alaphilippe agreed to pay Maestri to keep pulling. there's no way Maestri was going to win the stage whether he pulled with him or not. again, fine with me, hopefully Maestri can put a kid through college with his ride today.
