Hmmm... Betancur did some top quality sucking there, in the 15 min clip. Still he went (very) early on the final climb, so he probably earned it all the same.

Also, TGBM's sprint looked good. Came from over 2 lengths back with 150 to go to pip Uran Uran for 2nd. Certainly upped his standing in the Giro di Lombardia Winner Pool (Non-Gilbert Division).

Nice to see Italians on either PC/ Continental teams win. Liquigas have worked for Nibali/ and Basso in each race and have failed each time.

What's up with RAI and their crappy coverage of this race? Don't they realise that there are people outside of Italy who love this race and would actually want to watch it?

If I were a pro cyclist, I would take a win at Emilia over a lot of other WT one-day races.

Lombardia is definately the cheapest monument in terms of lesser riders getting a nice boost for their palmares.

Cunego in decline or Gilbert pre superhero makeover made good use of it.

Loads of guys could get a nice result out of it, since most of the top tier guys won't be there, or won't be in shape.

lol i wonder what that makes cav winning msr :|
THAT was the easiest.

pretty impressive win.
mollema topping of a good season.

I'd say Betancur deserved the victory.:)

That was a long spring up the last climb.

BTW, I am not bias.;)

But unlike Ryo, you're actually Colombian so you're allowed to be IMO.

Again, someone who doesn't understand that the route determines how hard it is to finish, but the field determines how hard it is to win.

At the other 4 monuments, you have to be the best in the world at that sort of race to win. At Lombardia you have to be the best who chooses to compete.

but when the best in the world competes ... (aka Gilbert) ... whoever wins will be a very deserving monument winner this year.

we are just rendering and uploading the last 25 minutes.

Favourites were fooled by no race radios lol :)
When they reached Zaugg they all started looking at eachother as it seems they all thought that it was the last 1 infront of them.

Normally I'd cheer if the break stayes away sometimes, but now that Mollema was strongest from the favourites I'd wish the pulled him back in. Allthough Betancourt went up the last climb really smooth.

After having seen the video, I'm inclined to think that the strongest man won, actually. At least he would have been very close if he'd stayed with the favourites.

I think you chose the wrong year to make that argument?

Goss

Nuyens

JVS.

Ok Goss arguably was the best on the day for the course, but as awesome as the 2 Belgians performances were, the were not the best in the world.

I agree, Betancur looked no slower than the peloton going all out. I didn't see much poker playing between Mollema, Nibali, Uran, etc; especially considering how long Zaugg was able to hang on too and how quickly Betancur managed to accelerate away from him.

Great win for Betancur.

Everyone was present. You can still have luck, but in order to win each of those guys had to beat all the best guys. No one decided to take an early winter break and skip those races.

Great win for Betancourt, but I'm a little sad anyway because there goes one of my picks for the 2012 cq ranking game

No one did now. Only the very best can still be fresh at this point of the season.

Andy never is good enough this late in season and now has dental problems or he would've been here and he would've sucked like always since his breakthrough.

If it weren't for his crash Vinokourov would be here as well. And normally Frank should be here. I think a lot of people of the top 10 of LBL will be here.

Mollema and Niermann (Rabobank), Monfort and Zaugg (Leopard Trek), Pozzato, Moreno Paolini (Katusha), Gorato (Geox TMC), Pinot (FDJ), Visconti (Farnese Vini Blacks pickles), Belletti (Colnago CSF Inox), Di Paolo Donati and Taborre (Acqua & Sapone) and Rubiano Chavez (D'Angelo Antenucci & Nippo), Diego Caccia (Farnese Vini).

Astana chasing.
