Somebody needs to work on the ITT skills with the Colombians. This is a repeat problem from the Cafe De Colombia team from the 80's.

On the other hand, they are free to attack all they want from the beginning (not that they were not going to do it anyway). :)

have you not seen castilla y leon?? they've been working a lot on itt with cep as well in recent years and it has payd of, just look at how wel quintana rode itt in castilla y leon. cep don't really have itt guys other than pena but he's way past his prime after getting knuckle fever or however you call it, in 2007

Some of the Colombia es Pasion guys did pretty decent TTs just a few days ago, in Castilla y Leon. I don't know if any of them are here though.

cano is, but he may've been tired and is inconsistant rider somewhat. quintana isn't and neither is pena I think.

It seems the guys coming over from castilla had arrived only last night around 3 am so no wonder they sucked today (paez, cano and chalapud)

That's what happen often with riders coming from the Palazzago/Colnago U23 team; they usually ride/train like crazy and also have a dodgyt DS (cant remember his name now).

As for Popo he was nicknamed Eddy Merckx during his U23 seasons.

the dt name was locatelli.
he has been presecuted for the hard treatment he inflicted to the young riders

This makes more sense.

I forgot about Castilla and Leon where they did better.

Let's see how they go in the mountains. Maybe we will learn something that you and I still don't know.

Great, Rujano 1.05 down.
Why do people continually over hype this guy after years of doing nothing? Many people do this.

It must mean he is riding the Giro. I believe him, mauro and ivan will all be riding their home races.

Ivan Santaromita has openly said he wants to ride the tour. But yes, it must mean Mauro and Ale are riding il giro.

Pretty disappointing performance from Kreuziger.

Kreuziger has been dissapointing hugely in tts since the vuelta 2009 (exept a few very short proloques). So this just seems his new tt-standard.

Hopefully though he can get back to his old tt form soon if he wants to be a serious contender in the Giro.

I know, but even though his TT performances don't suprise me any more I do still hope for a bit better.

Because of what we know he CAN do, not because of what he actually DOES.

He has so much talent. He just is difficult to motivate and plan for.

Because people hold out hope that he can return to his 2005 form.

And if he DOES return to his 2005 he's guaranteed top3 in any GT.

Although if he does nothing this season I think it's time to admit that he will never reach that 2005 level again.

It's simply our wishing for a return of form similar to when he was tearing up the Giro the year Salvodelli won with Discovery. For me its the same as my hyping Juan Mauricio Soler. They were exciting riders at the time and we hope that they become that again. Their style of racing takes the usual contenders out of their comfort zones because of their potential for devastation if ignored. It reminds me of LA and his calling Pantani a sh!t starter because he wouldn't conform to their strategy and made them have to think outside of the box to deal with his unpredictability and climbing prowess.

Is cuz He hasn't raced too much in these times... He will arrive pretty fresh and in good condition to Il Giro... checking here... his last race was Paris - Nice!!!
so is normal that He is sucking now...
And well... Kloden exploiting his form big time... poor Loseheimer... He will never be leader in Le Tour hahaha... doing some memory TOTO was always right hahaha

This. I've heard great things about Rujano but we never really see them. I only started really following cycling in july 2005. It gets a tad annoying after a while the amount of hype he gets.

But yeh, I have Macho Man to come top5 in the final ITT.

well if you feel like having some fun

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xOJniKOuCs

thats part number 1 of the finestre climb that year, by the time you reach the last part there will be a video for the descend (epic descend that gave the giro win to salvoldeli!!!) and then the climb to sestriere. it is one impressive performance that performance by rujano.

also this way you will have a preview of this year's giro last mountain stage :)

Rujano? meh.
People seem to have forgotten he was allowed to get into two, successive breaks (both stages won by Parra) in the mountains.
In terms of the GC, they were worth over 5 minutes.
He was a virtual unknown, so he was cut a lot of slack.
Not any more.

Having said that, he ended the race so hot, he would have taken the whole thing if there had been one more stage in the hills.

A similar sort of ride to Santi Perez in the 2004 Vuelta.

he's been doing well so far. the guy isn't in topshape yet but already dropped everyone like a sack of cany on the bocchetta in giro appennino. fors ure he will be there this giro and he'll be in his 2009 shape of vuelta colombia. the best I've ever seen any rider perform in the mountains.

by that same token he lost more than 3 minutes in the first itt because of 3 bike changes, so without that he woudl've won giro. one look at the final stage to sestrieres despite his attacking the days before tells you he truly was the best climber that giro and had incredible recuperation. without him losing all that time in first weke he would've won giro by minutes as he already came like within 40 seconds on sestrieres in his first gt at barely 23. something I've never seen since.
