what a week, automatic stage classification at Castilla y Leon and now we've got coverage from a tunnel at Trentino (even if it's prerecorded)

who cares about the classics, that's what cycling always needed :p

I haven't followed this race very closely, but what happened to Klöden today?
He won PV and the TT yesterday, so clearly he is on form, losing over 5 mins today? Did he crash or what happened? Not that I'm complaining.

Great to see Voeckler continuing his very good season.
Final stage tomorrow?

I'm happy to see him slow himself down.

He's done enough this season and the real goal is July.

I think Machado will end up winning. He has strong team support pity about Kloden though. Pozzovivo is 31 secs back, scarponi will be too tired and Nibali will do what Shleck and Contador did in the tour go back to have a private duel whilst sanchez and menchov move up ahead, mistakenly duelling Scarponi. Morabito might get onto the podium.

ACF how much did you bribe CN to put up the story of Rabobank lose yet again, after Amstel Gold Forum, Rabobank + the rest stuff up or something along those lines.

Jks.

Androni didnt want to help so Il Squalo and Szmyd had to work that is the more logical cuz Nibbs was in the top of the GC...
Androni again showing his climbing skills every team must be putting them in the equation if I were Contador I would be really scared to be alone with 4 of those guys in the high mountains ;)

That would be scary for his Giro hopes but something like crashes/ bad TTT will screw them up. Therefore not worrying about them. Contador will instead have to face Anton, Rodriguez, Scarponi and Nibali along with Cav on the flats.

I remember Rujano crashing only once in the last 6 years of pro racing so chances of that happening are slim and they won the ttt in settimana internazionale against teams like lampre so they are not going to loose that much time I think

Rujano is just lucky that the Giro doesn't start in Holland. Or Denmark, next year :p

Let's hope not, for Scarponi's sake. He still has to do the Giro...

yeah in hindsight I'm very happy isd wasn't invited to the giro last year because he would've lost a lot of time in netherlands. this years parcours suits him very well.

Watched it last night.
Kloden went out the back door faster than a hooker during a police raid.
He's now on Spring break.

That centre section of the climb was a quite bit more than 4.5%

Great to see Tommy V hunt down another stage. Scarponi looks strong.
The Columbians must have been too busy chatting about home.

Still, today should be more their cup of caffeine.

Haha, I didn't birbe anyone but thought the headline was quite ironic. Has Scrponi raced too much so far this season? He has looked strong since Sardegna and will have 24 race days under his belt.

I'm surprised its' only 24 days. He seems to be have been in a lot of races.
I think preparing for the Giro is different to the Tour. The two "block" option isn't an option.
It's not like the Tour where you can arrive slightly "off peak" and reach your optimum as the mountains arrive.

Most of the riders taking the Giro seriously will have a good few days racing under their belts.

CyclingFans just tweeted:

Stage 1 winner Andreas Kloden (RadioShack) out of Giro del Trentino due to illness overnight according to race organizer.

Quick. Someone tell "the Clinic".:D

On a completely irrelevant topic: Has anyone been watching the U23 Nations Cup stage race on Rai Sport 2, directly after Trentino?
RS 2 using Adele as cycling's music intro, since Sardinia, is very apt
The racing in Tuscany is pretty impressive; seeing the up and coming talent from all over the World. Quite a lot of African riders able to mix it up at this level, before the "traditional" nationalities take over for the stage wins.
Today's stage is the big one, to go with Trentino's.

Makes for a great 90 minutes a night!

Just checked the results. Geox seriously sucks. They've relied entirely on Duarte for a while now, so when he doesn't have the legs for whatever reason the entire team can be safely said to be a joke. Good luck earning that World Tour spot/2012 Tour de France invitation.

Having seen Scarponi/Voeckler -breakaway, I was very disappointed how little Voeckler worked over a relatively flat final 5 km. Hanging on Scarponi was acceptable on harder slopes, but sprinting to win after letting yourself to be dragged all the way, was unsportsmanlike...

Especially, as if Thoma shared the workload, he would have surely been gifted the stage by Scarponi anyway. As thanks for building the overall lead.

Hey, it's not a case of Europcar having a GC challenger in Trentino.

It looked like, TV having made the initial attack and then having been joined by Scarponi, was struggling to match Scarponi. He did a little work though (enough to keep his end of the deal).

don't you think that happened anyway? For me it didn't look like Scarponi was really interested in the stage victory
