This is true. I don't think Morabito has raced anything since Paris-Nice and he was far from impressive there so it is a bit of a surprise to see him climb with the best

Remember he was in Astana's super line up for the TDF 2009. also Rafael Valls is good for GEOX, he should move to a team where they respect young attacking riders. Why also did not Menchov move to Katusha?????????

He has been criticized so much in this forum for attacking too much and at the wrong places. Here he always followed the right wheels, was in control, fixed his shirt before the sprint, adjusted his shoes, and conquered the climb.

And yes, Tiago Machado looks good for the Giro.

Even when he was attacking and getting reeled in he was still finishing for the most part with the elite climbers this year. It was just a matter of time before a talent like his got to taste the champaign on the podium. Good for him! He is a very impressive talent who has a bright future. I'm curious to see what type of rider he becomes and what at type of races he excels as he matures.

he is a helper for rujano here and in giro.

Does he know that? Granted, he said this over a month ago:

"It is a very hilly course, which will suit me perfectly. I have plenty of stamina and think I can play a big role. Right now, I think I can finish in the top five, although there will be an excellent turnout."

did you even see the "sprint" in gp lugano?? it wasn't even a sprint. duarte rode too much in wind, basos himself said so after race. basso took outer line, also duarte did the entire climb and basso only wheelsucked till the end and yes he;'s proven many times he is fast by winning smaller sprints in colombia or placing well. but hey you probablky don't count that just as you had no idea about who duarte was before this year

^ i still don't really see how the above example applies as it doesn't even reference duarte. I guess we should just take ryo's word for it, because he wouldn't over-hype a Colombian now would he

probably parrulo did not see the whole climb

scarponi was the one trying to make the selection, and pozzovivo too after the initial very strong blow from ruyano.
machado then made his move.
it was scarponi that made niemec in the front, who made a very strong pace and when they were closest, he attacked very hard to catch ruyano. the only one able to follow michele was duarte, that looked good for all the climb, always in control.
but it is true, machado was strong too.

thinking about the giro:
-niemec could be a very useful help for michele scarponi. he can play the role of szmyd and he is as strong as sylvester is
-machado has to prove he can do well in stages where there are three or for big cols. and also he has to prove he can stay witj the best when the gradient is steeper ( fai della paganella, yesterday climb is not that hard, never goes over 10%)
-i hope that geox gives a go to duarte and that they do not use him just as an helper
- basso said that he is very impressed by the acceleration of duarte uphill . after pays basque, when he went back to italy, he said that duarte has one fo the most impressive acceleration in the peloton
-serpa,is not a true climber and he has never proved to be able to make big differences in cols with the strongest. that was true also in his career in colombia. when he came to italy, he lost some kg and improved his climbing skills but in my mind he can be a valuable helper to ruyano and a tactical weapon for savio, but not afactor in GC.
- jacson rodriguez is a strong allrounder and he will be as useful as serpa for savio. i do not know if the will bring monsalve to giro, because he is very strong uphill , and with hiom and sella androni can have 5 men in the last 15-20 in the hard stages
-kieserlowski is going very well and nobody speaks about him. he was better than morabito yesterday and nobody cares about him. he will be good for kreuziger in the giro, that with f.masciarelli has valable helper for mountain stages.
