round 1 > mountain finish. Nibali still can't drop 'half *** feeling rough' wiggins. Sky team didn't even motorbike the peloton, they still head and shoulder above the rest as far as their fitness. So far indication shows (even it's still early to tell) .. their B team is enough to win the giro.:D

Evans wasn't that bad, not worse than in the Dauphiné before the Tour he won. So that's promising.
I doubt he has the same ambitions like in the Tour you're mentioning.
Would like to be wrong, though.

What the hell did BMC do to Santambrogio? It turns out the guy can ride.

BMC are practically the opposite of SKY. Both their big dollar signings and domestiques perform below par. No idea what their regime is but it needs to be changed. The glow of TdF victory 2 years ago is rapidly fading...

I wanted to say something about Santambroggio but then I realised I was in the wrong subforum.

We do not have a forum for bad BMC transfers. Maybe we should.

exactly this. bmc like phonak were HORRIBLE in guiding and training riders. they only have money. santambnrogio wa sone of ita's biggest u23 talents in many years and scinto is actually a great trainer and motivator

I think a better question would be what have Vini done to him? ;)

Santa only rode a few races for himself last year at BMC. Which were:
GP Lugano 6th
Giro Toscana 12th
San Sebastian 6th
Piemonte 6th
Lombardia 4th

Although he obviously also surprises me especially on the longer mountains like todaýs. But he was also very strong last year especially in the classics where he did a LOT of work for Gilbert.

Given BMC's history and some other riders on that team, I think that other subforum wouldn't be appropriate. There has to be some other reason.

Just last year Santambrogio got 4th in Lombardy. It's not like he sucked completely. But BMC got too little out of him.

Wiggins could easily have overtook Nibali on the line for 3rd place, but he gifted the 2 bonus seconds to Nibali. Such [ arrogance | stupidity | a gentleman ] <- take your pick.

I was going to say the same...
BMC was not the right team for him, and this year we have the confirmation.

I think this forum would have been too small if he'd taken the bonus seconds. So he's just wise.

I think it was Madeleine, the stage where Evans burst out crying on Santa's shoulder.

Yea true didnt think about that, although the field wasnt very impressive but indeed a indication that he could climb the long climbs aswell. And races like Lombardia obviously also have some longer climbs.

Evans dropped 47 seconds and had no reason to kill himself in a race he can't win. The ride was an improvement on Tirreno and Criterium Int. By the time the Giro comes around he should be improving. I hope. Santa was impressive as was the winner of course. Just shows the depth of talent Sky has.

I haven't really seen evans ride for anyone else ever. Might be part of the culture problem at bmc.

Gilbert 2009 (reward for Mendrisio).

He carried the team for two years, has earned the right to do whatever he pleases.
