At least Rujano will make Contador work for the win, which means the Italians are staring down the barrel of a 10 minute deficit.

Giro was over since Etna.
Lanark said:And probably some help from Androni in the next week. Those couple of meters Rujano worked could hardly have gained Alberto any time, not enough to give away a stage for.

GoAndyGo said:Yup and Scarponi and Nibali letting AC have 17 seconds on a flat stage just drove the nail even deeper. I am still puzzled at how you let one of the best climbers in the world take 17 seconds on a flat stage. Seems to me they have always been racing for 2nd.

it was just poor attention. And the gain includes time bonus.
but yeah, he is way too goo. and the opposition are doing a poor job.

Mrs John Murphy said:I've heard it argued that the other riders believe that the race will be decided on the 22nd stage. That is to say that they are not interested in Dertie but marking each other. Why follow Dertie Cont and risk blowing and losing time to one of your real rivals. You'd be gutted if are Nibs/RK etc and tried to follow Dertie, blew up and lost a minute to Scarponi.
The basic argument is that there are two races taking place.
Dekker_Tifosi said:Also, I think Scarponi is underperforming this Giro. His group was barely 20 seconds ahead of Kruijswijk... That can't be good right?

But boy that was awesomeRujano proves the people wrong saying he was "just lucky" on the Etna etc. He is clearly vastly superior to Scarponi/Nibali c.s.
