What's all this talk about Anton? The guy is dead tired, he didn't train for the Giro to be a contender. He wanted to get a stage, he got the Zoncolan. Now he would like to get out of Italy asap and go on a short holiday.:D

I think you're right - I think Anton's main goal for today would be to help Nieve secure a top 10 finish in the overall, help him to the top of the Finestere and on the descent but I'd be surprised if he's near the front in Sestriere.

My outside pick for the stage is Hubert Dupont but depending on how the race is shaping up he may be sacrificed for Gadret trying to get on the podium.

That's an overstatement if i ever saw one. He's not even fit to lace Jørgens shoes...

I think that's really an inappropriate comment. Hitch is doing a magnificent job with these stage intros and I don't see the point in bringing him down with personal attacks like these regardless of in how high regard you hold Leth.

Anton lost a lot of time for reasons I don't know. Perhaps he's just no GT climber, who knows. Perhaps he's sick, not well prepared or perhaps he crashed.

Point is Garzelli is not good enough to be worthy of a kom in a Giro like this. Won most of his points in a single stage because of the stupid system at this Giro for the jersey. Tour has better rules for the KoM.

You mean the race where the excellent climber Charteau won the KoM?

That is the case for the KoM at pretty much every Grand Tour, every year.

Uh, no. You usually see the kom in a lot of breakaways. Garzelli did everything in a single stage. Cimma Coppi giving more points than Zoncolan finish is just... Lol.

Impressive, Sky once again missed the breakaway. What on earth are they doing...

They're trying to get Lofkvist in the break, but somehow he's not capable to get into a breakaway at the moment or breakaway groups don't want him joining them.

So, 170km on the front for the break before Finestre.

Need 8 minutes to make it over the top?

Yep

I would say they will be 9+ minutes ahead when the peloton start the climb. That could be enough for some of the better climbers in the group to get over top first. Then they could extend it back on the descent then someone may be strong enough to hold on to the end.

Well they've tried to do that for two weeks and it's kind of disappointing that they haven't made it even once.
