Chapeau Polanc, great win.*** Landa destroyed what could have been a good battle, hopefully they manage to get rid of him on the other mountain stages :D Gotta say that Contador looked strong,it will be a hard battle to stop him winning this Giro for Richie or Aru.

hmmm.. Aru not the cleanest sprint.
indeed, but this is not the subforum for that discussion.
Was talking about the fact that he closed Contador in the last bend before the finish - not that it matters. He will be dropped at some point. This is a battle between AC and The Devil

I'm more worried that contador will lose the leaders jersey to aru cause of boni sec in the next stages. Something that never happened before to contador in a GT.

yeah, normally we have to wait for a year or two.

eventually things come to order though.

Sorry, a noob in streaming, what's the best channel to tune in after a stage finish? Language doesn;t matter. For years I watch Eurosport only.

How was Contador bad or almost dropped?

Some must have seen a different stage.

Contador's attack was good, not 2011 giro level but solid. Only stage 5 and not a hard climb.

I'm more worried that contador will lose the leaders jersey to aru cause of boni sec in the next stages. Something that never happened before to contador in a GT.

AC confirmed today that he can very easily bully Porte into countering Aru's attacks just like he easily did at last year's Vuelta to Purito and Valve.

Contador really strong. Without the help of Porte, Aru shouldn't have closed that gap.

And Mikel Landa ride of the day (together with Polanc). What a ride, what a rider! He's got the same class and climbing abilities (if he's on form) as some of the top riders.

got ya, got ya, and I agree. just could not resist it.

however, I am beginning to think aru will be up to it at least in the mountains, which should be good for the race.

Does anyone else thinks Aru starts his sprints too early?
Yesterday I thought he's just miscalculated the effort, but today happened the same, although the outcome is better.

Yes way too early - but because of the barriers today it didn't matter.

Loving this 3 man fight. Really hope all 3 of them stay safe and healthy during this Giro.
Yes that also means I hope Porte doesnt have a bad day.

Should be a good fight.

What I expect? A big disappointment, Astana may drill it, but nobody major will attack with the whole climb being unsuited to attacking from 3-4k out, in a stage of the race where you can't expect much more.

God, I fail at this thing :D

Yeah, but maybe he wanted to catch Chavanel.

does that matter? they're fighting for 4 seconds with big mountain stage still to come. If he got dropped on the big mountain, it doesn't matter whether he started his sprint late or early today. I was hoping that Astana got the jersey so they will have to control the race until saturday.

3 Astana in the top 5 from the main field. BMC had two riders before the next Sky or Tinkoff rider finished.

And van den Broek the notable absence after looking good yesterday.

Its actually better he didn't catch Chavanel since that would've given Contador a 4 second bonus and Aru 6. This way Aru gets 4 and Contador/Porte 0.

Contador attacked, create a gap. Porte attacked .. no gap. Aru attacked.. no gap. Should be interesting Giro. The 3 big GC guy looked really strong. And it looks like Porte MotoHome marginal gain works for him :D
