Of course. Asterisks are idiotic. He was simply the best in Giro over the three weeks. As simple as that. Put on a real show on last two stages. Really, had just 2 bad days. One in MTT (people forget he lost significant amount of time due to mechanical), and one mountain stage. That's it. Formidable over the rest of the race

If SK didnt crash this would have been his Giro. Nibali wouldn't be able to take that much time. Great show by Nibali though to comeback. Probably the biggest deficit overturned other than 2006 Landis

That's probably true he had a good lead and was climbing well. Weird race but entertaining.

First to congratulate Nibali is Chaves family, then Valverde.
Seems like he's not as hated as the common narrative describes him.

Great Giro. I'm truly gutted for Stevie though. I could feel his pain on the last wall. Still fighting, but knowing his podium was probably lost.

It is so nice to read all the Nibali hate posts here while Lo Squalo takes the maglia Rosa to the last stage.
saying that is incredibly hypocritical given you openly hate all the big riders but nibali.

I think Nibali is very lucky that Kittel quit the race, after all he was the fastest guy in the race :)

I wish I felt this good after going to the doctor.

Take it to the clinic
It is even more ironic that this user is a Froome fan

I am?
Nothing wrong with being a fan but if you are saying that your rider is a saint while talking that the others they are very suspicious is pretty hypocritical me thinks.
And if you are not a fan,my biggest apologies :)

I wouldn't call myself a fan, I just get a bit annoyed by how anti-Froome it is here sometimes.

I feel sorry for the Dutchies, it's been a while since they won a GT.

But it's looking better than for a long while with prospects. Gesink and Mollema are no longer in contention. It's Kruijswijk who might go on and actually win one. Well, maybe Dumoulin if we get a TT-heavy course.

Superb Giro by Jungels btw.

Indeed. We all knew he could time trial but his climbing waas superb. He was also never afraid to attack and rode a fantastic race overall. And he is only 23!

He will be great GT rider in couple of years

also I need to say sorry for not believe in Zakrain as a GT contender even if he did not finished he definitelly could manage top 5 this year

Let's just hope Nibs makes it through tomorrow without any bad luck.
No, only blind support for the messiah Nibali/Contador is allowed on this website. Don't you dare bother his cult... err, fans.

You are wrong. I don't even hate Froome which for you probably encompasses all big riders, just don't like him, for all the others I have a great respect shown in all my posts.

There are a lot of asterisks needed here (Landa, Dumoulin, Chaves, Kruijswijk etc.). But in the end Nibali was there to take the win, which is all that matters.
No need for an asterisk here.

You can asterisk Pereiro's Tour, Schleck's Tour, Scarponi's Giro, Lejarreta's Vuelta, and a couple more from deep in the annals of history, but there's nothing to asterisk here. I'd even be tetchy about the precedent it would set to asterisk Contador's first Tour tbh. Could you potentially asterisk Cobo's Vuelta because the time bonuses settled it? That would be a different precedent I guess. But here, no, I don't think so.

Well, fair play to the guys who said that Uran was going to really deliver on his words. He did. Just sucks that Chaves couldn't hold the wheel.

Second Nibali+Valverde podium, at least I'd rather have Chaves' smile join those two than Horner's.

Both good prospects of course but sometimes in sport you never get another chance like that. SK was certainly flying and looked in control. I think he will get over it like Chaves and they will both have motivation for the future as they now know they are capable over doing a really good ride over three weeks. Both of their last two GT rides have been full of merit. There is no shame in being beaten by Nibali.

Of course it's looking better, but this was a sensational chance to win a GT all things considered: Froome, Contador, Quintana and Aru all riding the Tour, Nibali up and down, Landa sick, young riders still not fully developed. Next year is the 100th Giro so I would imagine the field could be much stronger. You can't be sure he'll have another opportunity like this.

This has got to be extra sweet for Nibs after all the criticism he's received during this Giro.

Chaves faded a bit in the end but he never fully cracked. Bodes well for him in the future. I think he'll get a GT at some point.

Nice recovery from Uran. A shame he was ill.

Strong performance from Bala. Happy to see him on the podium though I feel for SK. Such a valiant effort from him. Hopefully he'll at least get on a GT podium at some point.

I really don't get the hate for any of the top 4 guys (plus Zaka) during this Giro. They all raced their hearts out, they all attacked multiple times...chapeau to all of them!

Also well done to Jungels, I really think he can become a decent GT rider. He did pretty well this Giro when no one expected anything.
