Haig is riding so well for Michelton as are his team mates. White must be very happy with the team performance.
Nah, he won't, it's still a flat time trial and aero+watts are more important. Today it showed in the graphic again, Dumoulin was pulling more absolute watts (but is heavily weighed down), and he's more aerodynamic in TT position. So that will be impossible. But I can see Yates limiting the damage to less than 45 secondsclassicomano said:No way Tom will get pink on tuesday now. Yates will probably even win that stage.
Pozzovivo did a lot of work actually. Mindless, but he did. I don't know what's going through his mind if anything, but I guess it's something along the line of "Rider attack. Me catch him". You get the feeling that he would do anything you tell him. "Pozzovivo, go get me a bottle of water". "Sure boss".Der Effe said:Hugo Koblet said:Pozzovivo did at least as much work as Pinot. Dumo not so much intent but he also needs to ride with his emotions in check, I thought he was his own worse enemy in a lot of ways today.. Only he and Dumoulin took turns. Geez, Pinot even led the chase in the descent...he did his part. Pozzo when Dumo was dropped, then went back in the wheels, the other two didn't do squat,
LOL, Pozzo did f*ck all apart from when Dumoulin was dropped.
This. Carapaz and Lopez are 2 minutes behind the podium battle. Pinot and Pozzo should have just ignored their fight for white and just worked together to keep Dumo distanced.DFA123 said:If you're Dumoulin or Pinot you shouldn't be giving a **** about what Carapaz and Lopez are doing. They are effectively 5+ minutes behind, given the TT to come. If they sit on and jump off into the distance with 2km to go, who cares? Froome and Dumoulin should take responsibility themselves and race against Froome and Yates.red_flanders said:Pinot correctly pointing out the lack of work by Carapaz and Lopez as key to that group not catching Yates.

How? I think their top10 is pretty much secure by now.EroicaStradeBianche said:Pozzovino, Carapaz, Miquel Angel lost a good chance to consolidate their top 10

We need you in the clinic.
Iagree that the group lost most of their time at the start of the final climb, when they were messing around gesturing to each other about who was going to work. That was when Dumoulin should have gone to the front and giving a pull for a km, trying to keep the gap down and showing good intent.red_flanders said:DFA123 said:If you're Dumoulin or Pinot you shouldn't be giving a **** about what Carapaz and Lopez are doing. Dumoulin pulled until he was shot and then they jumped him. Don't see a problem with his ride. Clearly he gave all he had and the others sat in. What people "should" do is very strongly influenced by how strong they are, or aren't.
It remains a fact that the group lost most of its time due to lack of co-operation.
The same as yestreday.Serpentin said:movingtarget said:Haig is riding so well for Michelton as are his team mates. White must be very happy with the team performance.

The thing is, if he would have led the descent himself they would have co-operated and they would have closed the gap. Yates perhaps still would have won on the uphill finish, but now he was gifting Yates 30ish seconds which weren't necessary. But I guess that he was completely spent at the top of the Costalissoio, otherwise there's no excuse.Timmy-loves-Rabo said:DFA123 said:If you're Dumoulin or Pinot you shouldn't be giving a **** about what Carapaz and Lopez are doing. This I do agree with to a degree, dumo in particular today was far too worried about others intent then his own race. Hes a rider who likes to ride with principles and we've seen a few times in the past that he can get annoyed when other riders don't do what he perceived as right.

Trying to co-erce Lopez or Carapaz into saving the Giro for you, while Yates increases his gap up the road, is just lame.
Yeah I'm pretty sure he would have just ridden his own pace if he had the petrol to do so. He has form in this area. I think he was out of gas and probably took his frustration out on the others tactics.Bardamu said:The thing is, if he would have led the descent himself they would have co-operated and they would have closed the gap. Yes, probably. But we (Sky fans) have Bernal coming..HelloDolly said:I am wondering if we are seeing the beginning of the end of Froome
