it feels like anyone from top 15 tour would have smashed the giro
Yeah, Thomas as well I just read an article about how he would have smashed this Giro if he didn't fall. if Nibali was in the Tour you would also say that he would be on top of this. But ifs but ifs but ifs

This Giro is being served up on a golden platter to Kelderman, but it looks like his peak might have already come and gone. Almeida and Geoghegan Hart are both real possibilities to win this Giro. Who would have thought it two weeks ago?

Piancavallo delivered, it was a massacre by Sunweb. Kindley was so strong - man of the day. Still Kelderman couldn't finish off his work. Kudos to Almeida, who knows he might've just won the Giro. Disappointed with Nibali.
Kelderman could win this tour without ever winning a GT stage

Kelderman to mess this up somehow and Hindley, Hart and Almeida to fight it out.

"Almeida struggling" "Almeida barely survives" they say while the kid makes 4th, keeping the maglia and gaining 1 minute over other sharks when everyone said he would lose minutes today. The kid probably won't win but it's his first GT and you should remember his name.
Yesterday people were discounting him as one of the favourites, saying he will lose minutes to Nibali, Pozzovivo and Kelderman.

Turned out he only lost seconds to Kelderman but GAINED time on everyone else. I don't know if he can win it, but he is defintely one of the top contenders. We should give this kid more respect.

Landa and Porte - probably. Mas? Can't see it yet. Lopez? He's even more likely to do something stupid than Kelderman

Yates or Carapaz though. Dumoulin probably would have won it with the time trials and Jumbo didn't get covided.

There's a chance Wout could win if he kept climbing like he was

Are you seriously thinking that Kelderman would've done better than Thomas? Laughable.

Adam doesn't have his brother's killer instinct. Agree on Carapaz, he was certainly on track to put up a strong title defence before he got shafted by Thomas not training in lockdown

Maybe Kelderman was satisfied with his day's work and is confident he can overhaul Almeida ? The Ineos rider has the best kick and was obviously going to win the stage with all the work Hindley did. Kelderman has had bad days in the past and is probably wary of that.

Honestly, I think we need a year or two's hindsight. I remember people saying similar things about the 2011 Vuelta and 07/08 TDFs

Agree a lot with this. The field doesn't look great on paper at this point and the fact that bigger favourites are crumbling adds to that, however 2020 has seen a continuation (or even acceleration) of the changing of the guard and maybe we're seeing some of that here too. I'd like to see climbing times from today to get a bit more of an idea as to whether we saw a weak field and weaker challengers or whether we saw several good performances and some below average performances.

lol so a bad day is finishing second in the stage, and gaining time on all competitors? Give me one of those bad days every day lol.

Nice finale of the stage. Interesting race this one. So many unexpected results. And I think we will have more unexpected results. I don't think we have seen enough to draw any final conclusions.

The top four of today's stage had never won on the WorldTour before. Quite insane when it's also the four strongest guys in the race.
