If TGH loses a spot on the podium by the few seconds he wasted by celebrating 5 seconds early today I suspect he will regret it. What's with all the excessive premature showboating going on this year!?
Are you serious? He lost maximum 2 seconds. Let them show their emotions when they take a big win like this. They'll think about those 2s later in the race.

Weird Giro, weird coverage. The director really didn't know whom to stay with at times since he knew he couldn't just stick it on Vincenzo's handlebar. But maybe he's just like some of us, thinking it's still anyone's race, and someone at the back within 4 minute in the GC may still detonate the field later on. Will look stupid if it turns out to be Hart, or if Kelderman gets real.

Yesterday people were discounting him as one of the favourites, saying he will lose minutes to Nibali, Pozzovivo and Kelderman.

Turned out he only lost seconds to Kelderman but GAINED time on everyone else. I don't know if he can win it, but he is defintely one of the top contenders. We should give this kid more respect.
He lost nearly 3/4th of his lead here. You make it sounds like he lost 5 seconds.
This was while going deep, deep into the red. I'm pretty sure that sort of effort will cost him dearly later on in the race

If (God forbid) the Giro were cancelled after this weekend, Almeida would have earned the win.
I'm Portuguese and I would prefer and think it would be better for his career if he finishes in 2nd or 3rd after the hard mountains instead of winning in advance.

Sure as hell looks like it.
I am not too surprised to be honest. The first three / four really looked like they were flying. From Majka onwards, they were all really close to each other.

Sure Piancavallo came later in 2017 (stage 19) but I don't think Fuglsang or Nibali level was that bad all considered. Again Kelderman-Hart-Hindley were simply superb.

You have to wonder how much of the difference was solely due to Kelderman benefitting from domestique while Almeida got dropped. But then Sunweb is insane, and I don't believe Ineos will really try for the win with Hart.

Hart is British, so they'll try for the win as long as he's up for it.

Embarrassing stage. Even the #1 favourite of the race (Kelderman) was unable to do anything in the end, you could tell Hindley pushed him to the limit.

The level is pretty bad, current Froome or even retired Contador would like their chances against such a terrible field.

the only embarrassment is your comment

Climbing times today were faster than Pinot in 2017

People on here moan and undermine races becasue the narrative doesn t live up to their limited world view of cycling where only their decreed riders perfrom well or else its a shambles ....
