any chance the break stays away? how many minutes do they need before the last climb?

I can’t see it unless Mitchelton-Scott decide to knock it off for some reason. It’s a 19km climb, that’s effectively endless if there’s a train coming from behind.

but visconti is a decent climber, i dont think yates could make up 5 minutes to him on the last climb, so they need to reduce the gap imo.

I was just wondering why Lotto Soudal had moved up as a team to near the front. What possible business do they think they have there? Isn’t this a waste of energy? And then the ES commentary explained... its about the feed zone

Not at all, I really like it. He looks like he's a part of his bike. Stiff, yes, well, bikes are not alive.
To my eyes no one looks better on a bike right now than MVDP. Although my wife asked why his bike was so small. He does take a long stem and lots of seatpost.

This is an important question because everyone knows that the better you look, the faster you ride...

He's the type of character who could go earlier.

He is indeed. And you could even argue that it’s the sensible thing to do, to try to bank time while he knows he has form, in the knowledge that the TTs ahead will happen while some mountains may get cancelled. But it’s still stage 3.

I’m assuming the peloton will speed up a lot on the approach to the base of Etn and the gap will be south of 4 minutes. Maybe I’m wrong, but it would be weird if MS worked from km zero only to slack off.

It's a ~45 minute climb where drag is still quite important. Will be really hard for the break with less than 4'30

The crossers and mountain-bikers usually look great on the bike... and there are different ways how to to my eyes. The powerful ease of Van Aert and Sagan, the elegance of Hirschi, the agility of Alaphilippe, the perfection of Ganna... I loved Ullrich, Cancellara and Contador. Van der Poel is not to my taste on a bike. He's a beautiful man, but on the bike he looks way to tall to me, too, and especially his shoulders are about double the size of his hips... Looks weird on a bike to me. But his riding style is great, of course.
This is very important... :)
Nothing against Mollema and Dan Martin, but if they were dominating cycling I would not watch it any longer.
Almeida looks great, too, by the way!

Watching this stage just reminded me again how crappy most of the roads are in the Italian towns and cities... Those deeply receded manhole covers and drains

Is Jumbo Visma planning to keep Foss high in the GC? Could be like UAE last year, saying they will ride for Aru (Kruijswijk), but keeping the youngster Pogacar (Foss) up there.
