I mean it's difficult to say with Thomas. It's completely ridiculous how heavily favored Thomas was by the bookies pre race, but this performance was most likely caused by a crash. Now that crash might have been his fault but we still don't know how Thomas was matched compared to the others in terms of pure strength.

No it's not about that. It's about dismissing half a decade of Nibali being meme bad in prep races then always, ALWAYS being there at the top of GC. Meanwhile, Thomas is the guy with two career top 10s in GTs.

Thomas crashing should always be factored in to any predictions of his victory over a 3 week period
