I’ve never been a Sky/Ineos fan, though I have always had grudging admiration for Froome’s success and the accomplishments of the team as a whole.

However, it’s impossible not to enjoy watching a healthy Egan Bernal.

I recalled the epic Gavia '88 stage

I'd say there were worst weather conditions and more live images back then.

Also its not too dissimilar to the shortened/cancalled stage in 2019 he won or didnt win.

Agree, except that the field itself was looking pretty strong on paper at the start.

What was especially disappointing to me was how weak DQS was as a team except for Almeida. I really thought they could give give Ineos a fight. Without any strong teams to push the pace, we got a bunch of happy breakaway winners instead...

On the other hand, I'm really glad to see Caruso and Ciccone doing well. Ciccone living up to potential and Caruso shining when he has the chance.

Bernal needs to hop straight over to the TDF after this Giro.

The race for pink is basically over (unless a crash/illness/big crisis happens) but fight for podium should be more interesting.

No disrespect intended, but he’s beating Caruso, Bardet (who hasn’t looked like a GC contender in years). That’s a long way from going head to head with the ski jumper and aspiring rapper. The others are solid on paper, but underperforming to an extent.

And we'll never know how much better this Giro would have been if Landa had not crashed out.

No chance. No proper preparation for Porte since they cancelled the mighty Willunga Hill in January.

153km ain't long. A 2 mountain stage even if one of them is very long is not hard.

Probably the easiest Giro in years. Outside of the gravel stage it’s been soft pedaled. Should go for the double

We must wait till Vuelta and / or 2022.

A pity the stage was shortened, Bardet could have gained more time in his bid for a podium place.

There's only one stage that suits him like a glove later in the race.

My fantasy team is kicking itself for picking Landa, and Sivakov for likely Top 5 finishes and De Gendt and Dombrowski for breakaway points.

Same here picked Landa, Soler, De Gendt & Champoussin. Almost half the team out

Hot take, but Remco's final day at the Giro, period, I'm guessing. Will likely focus on Tour and Vuelta to test his GT potential, IMO
