So the interediate sprint is always first, then the bonus sprint? Ciclamino should heavily affect breakaway formation in mountain stages then.

Meanwhile, I noticed the bonus sprint tomorrow is in Verbier. LOL

Nice composition - sprinters, rouleurs, climbers. That means there should be plenty of action later on.
Yeah plus one on this. Outside of a handful of guys like the aformentioned Tonelli and "Stephen Williams", who has to be a made up PCM name come to life, I can see pretty much anyone in this break winning this but all of them would need for very specific scenarios to play out in order to win. Like Pedersen would most likely have to be dragged back by teammates after the climb. And Kuss and Rubio can pretty much only win in a two-up sprint - they can't make it to through to the end solo and if even a Formolo or a Konrad makes it to the line with them they're pretty screwed.

Thought Sandro Toneli was a football player for Milan. Maybe it explains why they lost vs Inter. Midfielder is focusing on the Giro this year

Real also mostly lost because Luka Modric was finally exhausted by being Beatrix von Storch (German AfD Politican)

Fwiw Konrad is much quicker in a sprint than Formolo, who somehow lost a two-up sprint to De Marchi in Tre Valli Varesine back in 2021. And we all saw how good De Marchi is in a sprint finish on Tuesday. There's a reason the guy has only four wins - they were all solos.

So many as*clowns in that breaks its a joke. Mads and Matthews must think how are those guys in the pros. A few riders will remember them I guess when they are away at another time.

The real mystery is why Matthews is working so much. He has a chance to win the stage, Pedersen doesn't.

Sure. Maybe I should've written "even a Formolo or evidently a Konrad". But to be fair, Formolino made a hash out of that sprint against De Marchi, who anticipated him at the kite and methinks really goaded Davide into countering and then leading them out. He hasn't been that terrible in sprints for minor placings IIRC. So what I'm still positing that even Formolo would be a clear favorite against Rubio or Kuss in a flat sprint.

Got a bit worried there that Van Wilder had gone to the Jai Hindley school of putting on a rain jacket.

If you're not one of the better climbers in the break it's actually really nice to get ahead.
If you're not one of the better climbers in the break you're likely getting caught by the peloton if you have only 3 minutes at the bottom of the climb.

The easy first half of this Giro has been brutal, the race hasn't even really started yet, going to be dropping like flies in the high mountains.

Festina affair levels of finishers I think.
